With web analytics\nand research, however, URLs can *be* the data, and R's default handlers\nare not best suited to handle vectorised operations over large datasets.\n\u003ccode\u003eurltools\u003c/code\u003e is intended to solve this. \n\nIt contains drop-in replacements for R's URLdecode and URLencode functions, along\nwith new functionality such as a URL parser and parameter value extractor. In all\ncases, the functions are designed to be content-safe (not breaking on unexpected values)\nand fully vectorised, resulting in a dramatic speed improvement over existing implementations -\ncrucial for large datasets.
