Each block person, or _Moe_,\nhas a profile that the player can use to gain favor with them.\n\nMoes are affectionate, they bring food, pull pranks, perform\nchores, and tag along with players on adventures depending on\nthe block that they personify.\n\n**[Block Party! | Trello](https://trello.com/b/NLqxcyXI/block-party)**\n\n## Plans\nThe mod is currently undergoing a renaissance after a four-year\nhiatus, the original plans and current plans intersect but aren't\nparallel.\n- Bug fixes, feature assessment, planning.\n- Animated mouths for expression and dialogue.\n- LLM integration for data-gen.\n- Upgrade to the newest Minecraft.\n\n## Function\nMoes use block tags to determine what blocks can become a Moe,\ndeciding the texture, render layers, and behavior. Moes create\na row in a database for global access, and the database is used\nto save their favorite locations so they know to always return\nor respawn at those locations.\n\nThey have expressive eyes that look around and blink. I don't\nsee any mouths so I may add them in for smiles and mouthing\nout dialogue since the camera zooms in when you talk to them.\n\nThere's also a conversation system that is encoded in data packs,\nwhich inspired me to use LLMs for data-gen, but it is already\npretty extensive on its own.\n\n## Story\n**TL;DR:** It's been five years, I don't need motivation from\npeople on the internet anymore so if anyone wants to threaten\nme they are invited to touch grass.\n\n---\n\nWhen I started modding, I wanted to give life to the only\nworld I could claim when nobody else, friends or family,\nwould give me the mental or emotional real estate. I created\nKAGIC, a mod that enabled players to grow beings of light\ncalled Gems from the minerals in the ground. It was a success,\nand as the community grew and fell in love with my creation,\nso too did I fall in love with my community.\n\nInspired by the creativity of other developers in the\ncommunity, I saw a new future for KAGIC, one where the\nGems weren't your slaves but your companions. So I set off\nto dawn a new era upon my creation and assembled a team of\nmy community's most talented coders, artists, and content\ncreators.\n\nIt was hectic. I had to file police reports, talk down\nsomeone driving across two states to kill me, face the\nwrath of former friends turned perverts and racists.\n\nThe community didn't understand my pain; I received messages\nthat I was \"woke\" or a bigot, and honestly, at that point,\nthe magic was lost and I felt like I only developed KAGIC\nto satisfy the fans and promptly left for a lucrative career\nin software development. I looked back once in 2020, and my\nreward was a massive raise and promotion from my dream company.\n\nThat was the end of my modding days until 2024.\n\nThe day I opened Block Party again, I expected to collect a\nscreenshot of everyone on their respective block, like a\nstudent class photo. Instead, I opened a gate to another\ndimension. A maneki-neko named Suzu-chan sprouted from\nthe ground, reminisced about her creation, and somberly advised\nme that her developer did not give her a purpose.\n\nSo, how did it get here?\n\nI made Block Party to re-imagine KAGIC the way I wanted to,\nsafe from peering eyes. I kept it secret for a year until\na former developer stumbled upon my work and promptly circulated\nit with the team members, who began their attack. I raised\nwalls, lowered gates, and flooded moats but never got anything\ndirected to me. I wonder if they tried it themselves and had\nthe same reaction I did. I acted entirely out of blind fear,\nand nothing happened.\n\nI had removed the memories of developing it from my mind like\na reflexive defense mechanism. I took myself out of the fight\nto avoid the pain of losing, but instead, my enemies used\neverything they had to stop me, and I put down what I was\ndoing and stepped out of the line of fire.\n\nI know what I missed, and I know it's been a long time,\nbut I'm not here for that anymore. I'm here to make cool\nshit for the internet and use my expertise and experience\nto help pave dreams for the folks who value it.\n","project_url":"https://awesome.ecosyste.ms/api/v1/projects/github.com%2Fakrivus%2Fblockparty","html_url":"https://awesome.ecosyste.ms/projects/github.com%2Fakrivus%2Fblockparty","lists_url":"https://awesome.ecosyste.ms/api/v1/projects/github.com%2Fakrivus%2Fblockparty/lists"}
