defining\nsensitive information for accessing servers (or services), such as logon\ncredentials or API keys.\n\nThe information for accessing the servers is divided into a general portion\nthat is defined in an openly accessible *server file*, and\na sensitive portion that is defined in an encrypted *vault file*.\n\nThe vault file defines the secrets needed to access the servers, such as\nlogon credentials or API keys. The vault file must be an \"easy-vault\" file and\nthus can be encrypted and decrypted using the ``easy-vault`` command provided\nby the `easy-vault \u003chttps://easy-vault.readthedocs.io/en/stable/\u003e`_ package.\nThe \"easy-vault\" files remain encrypted in the file system while their content\nis used to access the servers.\n\nThe server file defines general information about the servers, such\nas a short description, contact name, or a reminder which network to use for\naccessing them.\n\nThe link between the server file and the vault file are user-defined\nnicknames for the servers.
