Compared to the\n[old site](https://github.com/angulardart-community/site-angulardart), it's\nmuch easier and quicker to build and iterate new content.\n\nIt's still very much WIP in the current state, namely to migrate all the Jekyll\ntemplates to Hugo shortcodes. Follow\n[#9](https://github.com/angulardart-community/website/issues/9) for this\nprogress. A better README\nwill be provided later.\n\n## Build the site\n\nHere are simple instructions if you want to hack on it now:\n\n1. Install [Dart](https://dart.dev/get-dart) and NodeJS (\u003e= 16.16.0, though an\n  older version may also work, just remove the restriction in package.json).\n2. (Optional) Run `npm install`. This is technically only needed if you don't\n  have [Hugo] installed on your system **or** if you want to build the site\n  locally using Hugo\n  for testing.\n3. Run `dart pub get` and `dart run build_runner build -o data/fragments` to\n  generate code excerpts.\n4. If you have [Hugo] installed on your system, you may run `hugo server`\n  directly. If not, do step 2 and run `npm run server`.\n5. Open `http://localhost:1313` (or the addresss Hugo shows you if you\n  specified a\n  custom address/port).\n6. If you want to build the site, perform step 2 and run\n  `npm run build:preview`. **DON'T** run\n  `npm run build` or `hugo build`. The site's baseurl won't be setup correctly.\n  These options are for release builds. The result website will rest inside the\n  `public/` folder. Use your favorite http server to serve it (e.g.\n  `dhttpd --path public`).\n\nIf you're familiar with the old site, you might be surprised that no git\nsubmodules are required. Yes indeed, we're using `git subtree`!
