Be careful not to write to the wrong drive.\n\n## Webpage\n\nhttps://fmamp.com/hotdoglinux/\n\n## Overview\n\nThe design goals of HOTDOG include:\n\n * Graphical user interface based on retro computer systems including Hot Dog Stand (Windows 3.1), Amiga Workbench, Atari ST GEM, Mac Classic and Aqua\n * Custom lightweight Objective-C foundation\n * Bitmapped graphics, low DPI displays\n * No Unicode support by design\n\nHOTDOG uses a custom lightweight Objective-C foundation on top of the GCC Objective-C runtime. The style of Objective-C is completely different from the one Apple uses, everything is basically **id**.\n\nAlternatively, it is possible to use an older version of the GNUstep Objective-C runtime that uses the old object struct layout (located in external/libobjc2). This requires everything to be compiled with clang, and allows for the use of Objective-C 2.0 features such as NSFastEnumeration and NSArray/NSDictionary literals, as well as blocks and libdispatch (with the appropriate libs). However, the GCC runtime has better performance, so it is the default.\n\nBy design, Unicode is not supported.\n\nLow DPI displays are preferred, since the graphics are bitmapped and fixed in size.\n\nHOTDOG does not use Automatic Reference Counting. It causes problems with type-checking during compilation (it is too strict).\n\nHOTDOG is an acronym that stands for **H**orrible **O**bsolete **T**ypeface and **D**readful **O**nscreen **G**raphics.\n\n## How to compile and run\n\n$ sh makeUtils.sh\n\n$ perl build.pl\n\nTo run the window manager:\n\n$ ./hotdog runWindowManager\n\nTo run the iPod style interface:\n\n$ ./hotdog\n\n## Notes\n\nAqua mode uses 'compton' for window drop shadows and 'feh' to set the wallpaper.\n\nSome of the Perl scripts use the JSON module.\n\n## Screenshots\n\nWinMac 1280x1024\n\nWinMac is a combination of the Windows 3.1 window borders and font, the classic Mac menu bar, and dialogs featuring CATS from Zero Wing (All your base are belong to us).\n\n![WinMac Screenshot](Screenshots/hotdog-screenshot-winmac.png)\n\nHot Dog Stand 1280x1024\n\n![Hot Dog Stand Screenshot](Screenshots/hotdog-screenshot-win31.png)\n\nAtari ST GEM 1280x1024\n\n![Atari ST Screenshot](Screenshots/hotdog-screenshot-atarist.png)\n\nAmiga Screenshot 1280x1024\n\n![Amiga Screenshot](Screenshots/hotdog-screenshot-amiga.png)\n\nMac Classic 1280x1024\n\n![Mac Classic Screenshot](Screenshots/hotdog-screenshot-macclassic.png)\n\nMac Color 1280x1024\n\n![Mac Color Screenshot](Screenshots/hotdog-screenshot-maccolor.png)\n\nMac Platinum 1280x1024\n\n![Mac Platinum Screenshot](Screenshots/hotdog-screenshot-macplatinum.png)\n\nAqua 1280x1024\n\n![Aqua Screenshot](Screenshots/hotdog-screenshot-aqua.png)\n\n\n## iOS 4/5/6\n\nThis is an attempt to recreate iOS 4/5/6 with simplified graphics that would be suitable for the 8-bit or 16-bit era.\n\n### Home Screen\n\nThis is a preliminary version of the home screen with Windows 3 icons.\n\n![Home Screen](Screenshots/hotdog-homescreen.png)\n\n### Music\n\nA music browser in the style of the old versions of iOS.\n\nDisplays a list based on the files in the current directory, using the output of the following scripts:\n\n * hotdog-music-listAlbumsForArtist:.py\n * hotdog-music-listArtists.py\n * hotdog-music-listSongsForArtist:.py\n * hotdog-music-listTracksForAlbum:.py\n\nThese scripts can be modified as desired.\n\nCurrently requires Python modules mutagen and pillow.\n\nTo show albums:\n\n```\n$ hotdog show AlbumListNavigation\n```\n\n![Music Screenshot Album](Screenshots/hotdog-music-screenshot-album.png)\n\nClick on an album to list the tracks:\n\n![Music Screenshot Track](Screenshots/hotdog-music-screenshot-track.png)\n\nTo show songs:\n\n```\n$ hotdog show SongListNavigation\n```\n\n![Music Screenshot Song](Screenshots/hotdog-music-screenshot-song.png)\n\nTo show artists:\n\n```\n$ hotdog show ArtistListNavigation\n```\n\n![Music Screenshot Artist](Screenshots/hotdog-music-screenshot-artist.png)\n\n### Contacts\n\nA vcf/vcard browser in the style of the old versions of iOS.\n\nDisplays a list based on the files in the current directory, using the output of the following scripts:\n\n * hotdog-contacts-list.py\n * hotdog-contacts-printFile:.py\n\nThese scripts can be modified as desired.\n\nCurrently requires Python modules vobject and pillow.\n\nTo show list:\n\n```\n$ hotdog show ContactListNavigation\n```\n\n![Contacts Screenshot List](Screenshots/hotdog-contacts-screenshot-list.png)\n\nClick on a row to show details:\n\n![Contacts Screenshot Detail](Screenshots/hotdog-contacts-screenshot-detail.png)\n\n### Calendar\n\nDisplays a calendar using the output of 'cal' for the actual calendar.\n\nThe script 'hotdog-calendar-listEvents.py' reads .ics files in the current directory and lists the event dates, which are highlighted in yellow.\n\nThese scripts can be modified as desired.\n\nCurrently requires Python module vobject.\n\nTo show a yearly calendar:\n\n```\n$ hotdog show CalendarInterface\n```\n\n![Calendar Screenshot Year](Screenshots/hotdog-calendar-screenshot-year.png)\n\n### Lock Screen\n\n```\n$ hotdog show LockScreen\n```\n\n![Lock Screen](Screenshots/hotdog-lockscreen.png)\n\n## Legal\n\nCopyright (c) 2020 Arthur Choung.
