There is no need for editors to select a ``backend_layout``. In fact it is recommended to hide the fields ``backend_layout`` and ``backend_layout_next_level`` from editors.\n\nFind more about how we use this extension at b13, including examples, [in this blog post.](https://b13.com/blog/simplify-your-typo3-page-configuration)\n\n## Installation\n\nInstall this extension via `composer req b13/doktypemapper` and activate\nthe extension in the Extension Manager of your TYPO3 installation.\n\nOnce installed, add a new configuration ``doktype`` to your Backend-Layouts.\n\n## Configure your Backend-Layouts\n\nSimply add the new configuration ```doktype``` to your Backend-Layout, e.g.\n\n```\nmod.web_layout.BackendLayouts.MyPage.config.backend_layout.doktype = 144\n```\n\nThis will automatically set the ```backend_layout``` to ``pagets__MyPage`` when a page has doktype ``144``.\n\n### Hide fields from editors\n\nIt is recommended to hide the fields ``backend_layout`` and ``backend_layout_next_level`` from page properties (the value is set automatically) using PageTsConfig:\n\n```\nTCEFORM.pages.backend_layout.disabled = 1\nTCEFORM.pages.backend_layout_next_level.disabled = 1\n```\n\n### Note\n\nThis extension comes with a default empty backend_layout configuration (see `Configuration/Sets/Doktypemapper/page.tsconfig`) for\nTYPO3's default \"empty\" page types (like Shortcut, External Link, etc.) to ensure valid database entries for every page\ntype (even the ones without any content).\n\n\n## Credits\n\nThis extension was created by Achim Fritz in 2021 for [b13 GmbH, Stuttgart](https://b13.com).\n\n[Find more TYPO3 extensions we have developed](https://b13.com/useful-typo3-extensions-from-b13-to-you) that help us deliver value in client projects.
