Not Beej's\nGuide to Network Programming in C.\n\nIf you merely wish to read the guide, please visit the [Beej's Guide to\nNetwork Concepts](https://beej.us/guide/bgnet0/) website.\n\nThis is here so that Beej has everything in a repo and so translators\ncan easily clone it.\n\n## Build Instructions\n\n### Dependencies\n\n* [Gnu make](https://www.gnu.org/software/make/) (XCode make works, too)\n* [Python 3+](https://www.python.org/)\n* [Pandoc 2.7.3+](https://pandoc.org/)\n* XeLaTeX (can be found in [TeX Live](https://www.tug.org/texlive/))\n* [Liberation fonts](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Liberation_fonts) (sans, serif, mono)\n\nMac dependencies install (reopen terminal after doing this):\n\n```\nxcode-select --install                  # installs make\nbrew install python                     # installs Python3\nbrew install pandoc\nbrew install mactex                     # installs XeLaTeX\nbrew tap homebrew/cask-fonts\nbrew install font-liberation            # installs Liberation fonts\n```\n\nYou might have to add something like this to your path to find `xelatex`:\n\n```\nPATH=$PATH:/usr/local/texlive/2021/bin/universal-darwin\n```\n\n### Dependency: Build System\n\nThis depends on an external repo to build: [Beej's Guide Build System\nfor Pandoc](https://github.com/beejjorgensen/bgbspd).\n\nYou'll want to clone that repo as a sibling to this one:\n\n```\nmystuff--\u003ebggit\n      \\--\u003ebgbspd\n```\n\nThe Makefiles here will look for the build system there.\n\nYou can override the `bgbspd` directory before running `make` like this:\n\n```\nexport BGBSPD_BUILD_DIR=/some/path/to/bgbspd\n```\n\n### Build\n\n1. Type `make all` from the top-level directory.\n\n   If you have Gnu Make, it should work fine.  Other makes might work as\n   well.  Windows users might want to check out Cygwin.\n\n2. Type `make stage` to copy all the build products and website to the\n   `stage` directory.\n\n3. There is no step three.\n\nYou can also `cd` to the `src` directory and `make`.\n\n`make clean` cleans, and `make pristine` cleans to \"original\" state.\n\nTo embed your own fonts in the PDFs, see the `src/Makefile` for examples.\n\nThe `upload` target in the root `Makefile` demonstrates the build steps\nfor a complete release.  You'll need to change the `UPLOADDIR` macro in\nthe top-level `Makefile` to point to your host if you want to use that.\nYou're free to upload whatever versions you desire individually, as\nwell.\n\n## Pull Requests\n\nPlease keep these on the scale of typo and bug fixes.
