This version includes license\nplate specific features.\n\n![Box It - Screenshot](doc/screenshot.png)\n\n## Supported Browsers\n\nThis app takes advantage of unusual browser features, so support may\nspotty.\n\nCurrently tested on Chrome 69.0 and Firefox 62.0. Chrome works best.\n\n## Running Box It\n\nClone this project and launch with a web server (such as\n[caddy](https://caddyserver.com/)), or simply open\n[https://bigmlcom.github.io/boxit/](https://bigmlcom.github.io/boxit/).\n\n## Examples\n\nThe `examples` and `examples/images` directory contains example\nannotation files and example images, respectively.\n\n## Usage\n\n### Selecting Images\n\nThe `Select Images` button allows a directory of images to be loaded\nfor annotation. While there may be dialog confirming the upload of the\nimages to the server, the images are not shared with the server. The\nselected files are only accessed by the browser.\n\n### Navigating and Annotating\n\nThe right and left arrow keys will step through the selected\nimages. Alternatively the top slider can be used to jump to an image.\n\nThe view window's zoom level may be controlled with the mouse wheel,\nor double-clicking to zoom. The view window also supports panning\nthrough a click and drag.\n\nAfter selecting an annotation mode and class (see below), an region\nmay be annotated by simply clicking once to start an annotation box\nand a second time to finalize the box. A box can be deleted with\nbackspace. If there are multiple boxes, they will be removed in the\norder they were created.\n\nTo give the entire image a class label, either click the `Set Image\nClass` button or press the `enter` key.\n\n### Annotation Modes\n\nThis version of *Box It* has two annotation modes.\n\nFirst is the `custom` mode, in which a user creates their own set of\nannotation classes. Each annotation class may be selected by either\nclicking on the corresponding button or by using keys 0-9. The number\nkeys will select the annotations according the order they appear in\nthe sidebar.\n\nSecond is the `license plate` mode. This mode comes with alpha-numeric\nannotations predefined. Hotkeys are simply the corresponding keys on\nthe keyboard. Note that `0` and `O` are both interpreted as `0`.\n\nWhen loading an annotation file, the mode will be autodetected.\n\n### Clearing Annotations\n\nAnnotations are cached with the browser, so closing the browser will\nnot cause your work to be lost. However, the `Clear Annotations`\nbutton will delete the cached annotations.\n\n### Saving and Loading Annotations\n\nThe `Save Annotations` button will save the annotations in a JSON\nformat. This will create an `annotations.json` file in your browser's\ndefault downloads directory.\n\nSimilarly, the `Load Annotations` button will load annotations from a\nJSON file. The loaded annotations will override any existing or cached\nannotations in the browser.\n\n### Extracting Images\n\nThe `Extract Images` button will crop and save each boxed region as a\nseperate file in your browser's default download directory.
