These nicknames are based on the\nappearance of the operator, rather than its function.\nThe well-known examples are the \"diamond operator\" \u003c\u003e and the \"spaceship\noperator\" \u003c=\u003e .\n\nThe Perl \"secret operators\" have been discovered (or created) by Perl\nobfuscators and golfers, usually when looking for a shorter way to\nperform a given operation.\n\nSecret operators are not actually secret, and they are not actually\noperators either. The perl parser does not specifically recognise them,\nand no one is trying to hide them from you. But they are like operators\nin the sense that these Perl programmers see them often enough to\nrecognize them without thinking about their smaller parts, and eventually\nadd them to their toolbox. And they are like secrets in the sense that\nthey have to be discovered by their future user (or be transmitted by\na fellow programmer), because they are not explicitly documented.\n\nBecause secret operators are not operators they don't have real names,\nand so they need nicknames. Like the above Perl operators, their name\nis usually related to their shape.\n\nThe term \"secret operator\" was probably coined by Abigail in a\ncomp.lang.perl.misc post in January 2003.\n\nThis manual page describes and explains the main Perl secret operators.\n\nAUTHOR\n\nPhilippe Bruhat (BooK)\n\nCOPYRIGHT\n\nCopyright 2010-2019 Philippe Bruhat (BooK).\n\nLICENSE\n\nThis documentation is free; you can redistribute it and/or modify it\nunder the same terms as Perl itself.\n\n","project_url":"https://awesome.ecosyste.ms/api/v1/projects/github.com%2Fbook%2Fperlsecret","html_url":"https://awesome.ecosyste.ms/projects/github.com%2Fbook%2Fperlsecret","lists_url":"https://awesome.ecosyste.ms/api/v1/projects/github.com%2Fbook%2Fperlsecret/lists"}
