Create, edit, and visualize digital timing diagrams using the WaveJSON format with an intuitive interface and advanced editing capabilities.\n\n\u003e **⚠️ Alpha Release** - WaveScaler is currently in active development. While functional, you may encounter bugs or breaking changes. We welcome feedback and contributions!\n\n\u003c!-- ![Waveform Editor Demo Video](https://via.placeholder.com/800x400/1a1a1a/ffffff?text=WaveScaler+Demo) --\u003e\n\n![banner](img/WaveScaler.png)\n\n\n# The ***Why*** of it\n\nWaveDrom showed the hardware world that timing diagrams could be written as text and rendered anywhere — great for version-control, terrible for day-to-day editing. Teams still copy-paste raw **WaveJSON** into repos and paste static PNGs into Google Docs, because the stock WaveDrom editor is minimalist. **WaveScaler** turns those script-only workflows into a fully-interactive, SvelteKit-powered experience that’s ready for professional verification teams, technical writers, and IP vendors alike. \n\n- **WaveDrom (2010-)** introduced *WaveJSON*, a terse language for timing diagrams, rendered to SVG/PNG in-browser. It solved version-control pain and made diagrams text-diff-friendly. \n\n- Yet the official WaveDrom Editor stayed a minimal textarea-plus-preview.\n\n- Large-scale SoC projects therefore embed raw WaveJSON blobs in HDL repos and manually export static images for specs — losing interactivity, inviting errors, and wasting review cycles.\n\n## ✨ Features\n\n\u003cimg src=\"https://github.com/CheeksTheGeek/wavescaler/blob/fdf2e77be4862d764d747b0ad51ee8d4ed9e56ff/img/cooked.png\" alt=\"cooked\" height=\"48\" style=\"vertical-align: text-bottom;\" style=\"filter: invert(100%);\"\u003e\n\n**So many things to fix at the moment** \n\n### 🎨 **Interactive Editing**\n- **Visual waveform editing** - Click and modify signal values directly on the diagram\n- **Monaco Editor integration** - Full-featured JSON editor with syntax highlighting and validation\n- **Real-time preview** - See changes as you type\n- **Drag-and-drop** - Reorder signals and groups effortlessly\n\n### 🎛️ **Advanced Signal Management**\n- **Multi-signal selection** - Select and modify multiple signals at once\n- **Signal grouping** - Organize related signals into collapsible groups\n- **Wave pattern tools** - Apply values to selections, invert, duplicate\n- **Smart spacing** - Add spacers and gaps for better organization\n\n### 💫 **Professional Tools**\n- **Command palette** (`Ctrl/Cmd+K`) - Quick access to all functions\n- **Undo/Redo system** - Full history with detailed operation tracking\n- **Export options** - Save as JSON, SVG, PNG, or JPEG\n- **Theme support** - Light and dark themes\n- **Keyboard shortcuts** - Efficient editing workflows\n\n### 🚀 **Modern Architecture**\n- Built with **SvelteKit** for blazing-fast performance\n- **TypeScript** throughout for type safety\n- **Tailwind CSS** for beautiful, responsive design\n- **Monaco Editor** for professional code editing experience\n\n## 🚀 Quick Start\n\n### Prerequisites\n- Node.js 18+ \n- npm, pnpm, or bun\n\n### Installation\n\n```bash\n# Clone the repository\ngit clone https://github.com/cheeksthegeek/wavescaler.git\ncd wavescaler\n\n# Install dependencies\nnpm install\n\n# Start development server\nnpm run dev\n```\n\nOpen your browser to `http://localhost:5173` and start creating waveforms!\n\n### 🎯 Some rough guide on how to use (I'll add an interactive guide later on)\n\n#### Interactive Editing\n- **Click any cycle** to modify its value\n- **Shift+click** for multi-selection\n- **Right-click** for context menus\n- **Drag** to reorder signals\n\n#### Command Palette (`Ctrl/Cmd+K`)\n- Add signals and groups\n- Export in multiple formats \n- Clear waveform\n- Undo/redo operations\n\n#### Selection Tools\n- Select individual cycles, entire signals, or groups\n- Apply operations to selections:\n - Set values (`0`, `1`, `x`, `z`, etc.) \n - Copy/paste patterns\n - Invert logic levels\n - Duplicate selections\n\n## 🛠️ Development\n\n### Project Structure\n```\nsrc/\n├── lib/\n│ ├── components/ # Svelte components\n│ ├── command-palette/ # Command system\n│ ├── wavejson-* # WaveJSON parsing/generation\n│ └── stores/ # State management\n├── routes/ # SvelteKit routes\n└── app.html # Main HTML template\n```\n\n### Available Scripts\n\n```bash\nnpm run dev # Start development server\nnpm run build # Build for production \nnpm run preview # Preview production build\nnpm run test # Run tests\nnpm run lint # Lint code\nnpm run format # Format code\n```\n\n### Contributing\n\nWe welcome contributions! \n\n## 📚 WaveJSON Format\n\nWaveScaler uses the WaveJSON format, which is compatible with WaveDrom. For detailed format documentation, see the [WaveDrom tutorial](https://wavedrom.com/tutorial.html).\n\n## 🎨 Themes\n\nWaveScaler supports both light and dark themes.
