You can run the tests in this repository on a remote server using\nmybinder\n\n[![Binder](https://mybinder.org/badge_logo.svg)](https://mybinder.org/v2/gh/Chilipp/Temperature12K-Tests/master)\n\nwithout the need to install anything. Just head over to\n\nhttps://mybinder.org/v2/gh/Chilipp/Temperature12K-Tests/master\n\nThe following sections describe the other contents of this repository.\n\n\n## Installation\n*Skip this section, if you want to use mybinder.org anyway...*\n\nIf you want to run the functionalities in this repository on your local\ncomputer,  you have to install the necessary dependencies as described in the\nfollowing steps:\n\n1. Download this repository\n2. Download and install [miniconda](https://conda.io/en/latest/miniconda.html)\n   for your specific operating system (Linux, Windows or OS X)\n3. Create a new conda environment using the [environment.yml](environment.yml)\n   configuration file:\n\n   ```bash\n   conda env create -f environment.yml\n   ```\n4. Activate the conda environment via\n   ```bash\n   conda activate temperature12k\n   ```\n\nFurther installation instructions to run the notebooks can be found\nin the corresponding [README](notebooks/README.md).\n\n## Running jupyter notebooks\n\nYou can run the notebooks on a remote server (without the need of installing\nany packages), or offline. Please head over to the\n[notebooks directory][notebooks] for more information on this.\n\nThe notebooks in this repository are:\n\n- [get-temperature-data.ipynb](notebooks/get-temperature-data.ipynb) to\n  download the LiPD files and combine the temperature series in the data base\n- [run-temperature12k-tests.ipynb](notebooks/run-temperature12k-tests.ipynb) to run\n  the automated tests for the database\n\n\n## Running the tests\nAutomated tests are defined in the [tests](tests) directory. You can\nrun these tests with the [run-temperature12k-tests.ipynb](notebooks/run-temperature12k-tests.ipynb)\nor by following the [instructions to run the tests](tests/README.md).\n\n\n## Contributing and giving feedback\n\nWe very much welcome your contributions and appreciate any feedback on the\nanalysis scripts and tests.
