The installer finds your MCP clients (Claude Code, Cursor, Codex,\nand more), registers MOOTx01 at the deepest level each client supports, and\nstarts the local services. Full details, addresses, and verification steps in\nthe [Quickstart](#quickstart) below.\n\nThen ask your AI to try memory:\n\n```text\nRemember that this project ships the importer behind a flag.\n```\n\n```text\nSearch my MOOT for what we decided about the importer.\n```\n\n## What it is\n\nMOOTx01 gives your AI a memory that lasts.\n\nEvery AI today has the same basic problem: when the chat ends, the useful context often disappears with it. You start over. You re-explain the same project rules. You re-introduce old decisions. You switch from one AI tool to another and the memory does not come with you.\n\nMOOTx01 stores useful memory in a local estate your AI can read from later. It runs on your machine by default. Any AI client that speaks the Model Context Protocol can connect to it through ARIA, the MOOTx01 memory language.\n\nThe model can change. Your memory stays yours.\n\n## What it fixes\n\nYour AI has a context window. That is what it can think with right now.\n\nMOOTx01 gives it a memory estate. That is what it can remember from later.\n\nUse MOOTx01 when you want your AI to:\n\n- remember project decisions,\n- recall prior conversations,\n- keep durable facts and notes,\n- link related ideas,\n- search across sessions,\n- stop asking you to rebuild the past every time.\n\nMOOTx01 is not just a vector database. It stores memory as a substrate: memories, facts, links, journals, trust state, recall indexes, graph structure, reasoning lenses, and background consolidation signals.\n\nIn plain English: it keeps what happened, finds what matters, and helps your AI use that memory when it matters.\n\n## What it looks like\n\nBehind the scenes, the AI uses ARIA tools like these:\n\n```jsonc\n// store a memory\nmoot_file_memory {\n \"content\": \"We ship the importer behind a flag.\",\n \"location\": \"project/alpha\"\n}\n\n// retrieve memory\nmoot_memory_search {\n \"query\": \"what did we decide about the importer?\"\n}\n```\n\n```text\nShow me the current status of my MOOT estate.\n```\n\n## Where to go next\n\n- **Install it.** See [Install in 60 seconds](#install-in-60-seconds) above or the full [Quickstart](#quickstart) below.\n- **Understand it fast.** Read [`docs/start-here/END_USER_EXPLAINER.md`](docs/start-here/END_USER_EXPLAINER.md).\n- **Have an AI install it.** Give the AI [`AI_START_HERE.md`](AI_START_HERE.md).\n- **Read the story.** [`ABOUT.md`](ABOUT.md) explains why MOOTx01 exists and why memory belongs to you.\n- **Build on it.** [`docs/start-here/SDK_QUICKSTART.md`](docs/start-here/SDK_QUICKSTART.md) shows the open → capture → recall loop, and [`SDK.MD`](SDK.MD) maps the standalone Apache-2.0 SDK repos.\n- **See the architecture.** [`docs/concepts/TOPOLOGY.md`](docs/concepts/TOPOLOGY.md) is the readable map of the repository.\n- **Visit the live site.** [mootx01.ai](https://mootx01.ai)\n\n---\n\n## Quickstart\n\n### 1 · Install the binary\n\nPrebuilt, no toolchain, no clone. Native installers are the easiest path:\n\n**macOS — native installer (recommended)**\n\nDownload the notarized `.pkg` for your architecture from the\n[latest release](https://github.com/codedaptive/mootx01-ce/releases/latest)\nand double-click. A SwiftUI setup assistant handles the rest.\n\n**macOS / Linux — Homebrew**\n\n```bash\nbrew install codedaptive/mootx01-ce/mootx01\n```\n\nUpgrades arrive with `brew upgrade`.\n\n**macOS / Linux — script**\n\n```bash\ncurl -fsSL https://raw.githubusercontent.com/codedaptive/mootx01-ce/stable/1.0.x/install.sh | sh\n```\n\n**Windows — native installer (recommended)**\n\nDownload `setup.exe` for your architecture from the\n[latest release](https://github.com/codedaptive/mootx01-ce/releases/latest)\nand double-click, or use the Windows Package Manager:\n\n```powershell\nwinget install Codedaptive.MOOTx01\n```\n\n**Windows — script** (PowerShell)\n\n```powershell\n[Net.ServicePointManager]::SecurityProtocol=[Net.SecurityProtocolType]::Tls12\nirm https://raw.githubusercontent.com/codedaptive/mootx01-ce/stable/1.0.x/install.ps1 -OutFile install.ps1\n# review install.ps1, then:\n.\\install.ps1\n```\n\n(Download-then-run, not `irm | iex` — the script itself should be reviewable\nbefore anything executes. The TLS line is required on Windows PowerShell 5.1.)\n\nScript and tarball installs land in:\n\n```text\n~/.mootx01/bin\n```\n\nRe-run to upgrade. Every release asset is covered by a minisign-signed\n`checksums.txt` on the release page.\n\n### 2 · Wire it in\n\n```bash\nmootx01 install\n```\n\nThe installer registers MOOTx01 with supported MCP clients and starts the local services when supported.\n\nBy default:\n\n| Surface | Address |\n|---|---|\n| MOOTx01 resident daemon | `http://127.0.0.1:4242` |\n| `moot-mgr` dashboard | `http://127.0.0.1:4200` |\n\nBoth are loopback addresses. They are meant for your own machine, not the public internet. For security they will reject connection from other devices.\n\n### 3 · Verify it\n\n```bash\nmootx01 status\n```\n\nIf the manager is installed:\n\n```bash\nmoot-mgr status\n```\n\nOpen the dashboard:\n\n```text\nhttp://127.0.0.1:4200\n```\n\nIf your AI client supports MCP tool discovery, confirm it can see MOOTx01 tools such as:\n\n- `moot_estate_ping`\n- `moot_estate_status`\n- `moot_memory_search`\n- `moot_file_memory`\n\n### 4 · Make the AI use memory automatically\n\nInstalling the runtime gives the AI the tools. The next step teaches the client *when* to reach for memory. `mootx01 install` wires this at the deepest level each client supports — three integration depths:\n\n| Depth | What it installs | Clients |\n|---|---|---|\n| **Server** | MCP tools only | every MCP client |\n| **Skills** | a `SKILL.md` adapter that teaches the AI when to use memory | clients with a skills surface |\n| **Plugin** | a native plugin package for the client | clients with a plugin format (Claude Code, Cursor, …) |\n\n`install` picks the deepest available and falls back automatically (plugin → skills → server). Why the plugin depth is worth having: [`apps/moot-agent-skills/PLUGIN.MD`](apps/moot-agent-skills/PLUGIN.MD).\n\nThe plugin is also installable straight from your client's marketplace — in Claude Code:\n\n```\nclaude plugin marketplace add codedaptive/mootx01-plugin\nclaude plugin install mootx01@mootx01\n``` The per-client adapters and plugin sources live in:\n\n```text\napps/moot-agent-skills/ # claude · cursor · codex · continue · cline · roo · openai-agents · generic\napps/moot-agent-skills/README.md\n```\n\n## How it works\n\nMOOTx01 is an SDK of composable kits. **GeniusLocusKit** composes them into a working estate, the **Brain** layer prepares memory, and **ARIA** is the one interface in front of all of it.\n\n```text\nObserve / Remember -\u003e LocusKit (spatial memory + knowledge graph)\n VectorKit (on-device embeddings + ANN / hybrid search)\n CorpusKit (content-plus-vector RAG bundles)\n\nDream -\u003e NeuronKit (hybrid recall, dreaming daemon, Bradley-Terry, SolverBandit)\n CognitionKit (named, composable behaviour recipes)\n\nCompose / Convene -\u003e GeniusLocusKit (N estates, matrix layer, federation)\n\nSpeak -\u003e ARIA (MCP server + native app surfaces)\n```\n\nThe readable map of the whole repository is [`docs/concepts/TOPOLOGY.md`](docs/concepts/TOPOLOGY.md).\n\n## For developers\n\nIf you are building an application and you want it to have temporal knowledge — memory that survives sessions, links to AI, and participates in the user's life — you can embed MOOTx01 directly.\n\nMost apps do not have a memory substrate because writing one is hard. The math debt is steep. The speed optimization is harder. MOOTx01 ships as a kit family, so your application can gain memory without rebuilding the substrate from scratch.\n\nYour app can use MOOTx01 in three common ways:\n\n- **Sidecar:** the app keeps its own store, and a MOOT runs beside it.\n- **Embedded:** the app links the kits directly.\n- **MCP surface:** the app exposes or consumes memory through ARIA over MCP.\n\nThe interface is ARIA: consistent across implementations, surfaces, and languages. The same vocabulary works whether you embed MOOTx01 as a library, query it through an MCP server, or call it through a native API.\n\n### Developer SDKs\n\n**The engines are open. The intelligence is the product.**\n\nSeventeen libraries and kits from the MOOTx01 Framework are open source under\nApache 2.0 — published today, not on a timer — through four standalone venue\nrepositories, installable directly with SwiftPM or Cargo:\n\n| Repo | The engines it gives you |\n|---|---|\n| [`moot-memory`](https://github.com/codedaptive/moot-memory) | Spatial memory + knowledge graph, on-device vector search, RAG bundles |\n| [`moot-semantics`](https://github.com/codedaptive/moot-semantics) | The ARIA grammar, FDC lattice, deterministic text-to-anchor grounding |\n| [`moot-system`](https://github.com/codedaptive/moot-system) | Storage (SQLite · PostgreSQL · InMemory), queueing, sync, telemetry |\n| [`moot-core`](https://github.com/codedaptive/moot-core) | The typed substrate: 256-bit Engram math, kernel, learning + graph algorithms |\n\nThose engines let you build your own memory system — and they're the same ones\nMOOTx01 runs on. What this repository adds is the intelligence: composed recall\nacross estates, the dreaming and trust Brain, twenty-plus reasoning lenses,\nand the ARIA voice that lets any MCP client use it with zero integration code.\n\nThe full map — every package, install snippets, what the product layer adds,\nand the decision guide — is in [`SDK.MD`](SDK.MD).\n\n## For builders: the kit stack\n\n```text\nBehaviour (this repo):\n NeuronKit AI algorithms: reasoning functions plus autonomic daemons\n CognitionKit Behaviour layer: named, composable workflows\n\nComposition (this repo):\n GeniusLocusKit Unified substrate: LocusKit + CorpusKit + Brain layer; N estates\n\nStandalone substrate (SDK: moot-memory):\n LocusKit Spatial memory system plus knowledge graph\n VectorKit On-device embeddings plus nearest-neighbour search\n CorpusKit Content-plus-vector RAG bundles\n\nGrounding (SDK: moot-semantics):\n EideticLib Deterministic text-to-anchor (FDC code + Wikidata Q-ID)\n LatticeLib Frame Decimal Classification: assembler, canon, lookup\n AriaLexiconLib Reified ARIA grammar\n\nTyped math (SDK: moot-core):\n EngramLib Typed 256-bit Engram API\n\nFoundation (SDK: moot-core / moot-system):\n SubstrateTypes Pure substrate types\n SubstrateKernel Hot-path bit ops, write gate, clock\n SubstrateML Learning + graph algorithms\n SubstrateLib Orchestration: verbs + row-state automaton\n PersistenceKit Storage backends: SQLite, PostgreSQL, InMemory\n ConvergenceKit Sync implementations: CloudKit, Federation, None\n QueueKit Fill-and-drain job queue\n IntellectusLib Telemetry floor\n ObserverSink Telemetry sink + SQLite stats store\n LoopbackHTTP Minimal loopback HTTP transport\n\nProduct surface (this repo):\n AriaMcpKit ARIA-over-MCP server surface\n VaultKit Encrypted, portable estate export/import\n```\n\n## Implementations\n\nEvery kit ships in two equal-status implementations, conformance-gated against shared test vectors:\n\n- **Swift** — Apple Silicon, macOS 26+, iOS 26+\n- **Rust** — PC/Linux x86_64 and Linux aarch64\n\nNeither port leads.
