This file contains general information about the library.\nFor compilation and installation information, refer to the file named\nINSTALL. For copyright and license information, refer to the file\nnamed COPYING. Changes in profit since the first release are described\nin the file named ChangeLog. Documentation on how to program with\nprofit can be found in MANUAL.\n\n\n0. CONTENTS\n===========\n\n1. FUNCTIONALITY\n2. TECHNICAL SUPPORT\n3. LICENSE INFORMATION\nA. TRADEMARKS\n\n\n1. FUNCTIONALITY\n================\n\nProfit is a C library for reading and writing Open Flight files, and for\ntraversing the Open Flight models once they are loaded. The name profit\nis sort of an acronym for PRogrammer's Open FlIghT.\n\nThe focus of the library is primarily on loading Open Flight files,\ntraversing Open Flight files for geometry extraction, and saving Open Flight\nfiles. The intended purpose of profit has been on supporting Open Flight\nimporting and exporting, and not to be the main library in an Open Flight-\nbased application.\n\nNot much functionality has been created for modifying the Open Flight models,\nbut modification is possible if you understand how the Open Flight data\nstructures are set up in memory. Systems in Motion is using profit in the\npolygon-reducer product called Rational Reducer with great success without\nhaving to write too much external code for creating the modified (reduced)\nmodel. Most modifications has to be done directly against the structures\nthough, and can therefore be somewhat hairy to get right.\n\nA sample program is included in the directory examples/flt2vrml/ which will\nconvert an Open Flight file (only the polygon data) to a VRML 1.0 file.\n\n\n2. TECHNICAL SUPPORT\n====================\n\nSystems in Motion (SIM) has no obligation to provide technical support for\nthe BSD-licensed version of profit. If resources permit, however, SIM will\nof course try to be as helpful as possible. Do not bother MultiGen, Inc.\nfor support since they have had nothing to with the implementation of profit.\n\nSIM has set up two mailing lists for profit support.\n\nprofit-announce\n This mailing list is for announcements regarding profit. New releases,\n new functionality, license information, this kind of stuff.\n This list is moderated (read-only). Very low-traffic.\n\nprofit-discuss\n This mailing list is for discussing profit. Technical support can be\n provided through this discussion forum. Followups to announcements\n in profit-announce should also be directed to this list.\n This list is open for posting for all subscribers. Also low-traffic.\n\nTo subscribe to either of the two lists, send an email to SIM's mailing\nlist manager at \u003clistserv@sim.no\u003e with a subject line with the format\n\"subscribe \u003clistname\u003e\". To unsubscribe, use a subject line with the\nformat \"unsubscribe \u003clistname\u003e\". Do not include brackets around the\nmailing list name. For general information about SIM's mailing list\nmanager, use \"help\" as the subject line.\n\n\n3. LICENSE INFORMATION\n======================\n\nProfit is released publicly under the 3-clause BSD license (see the file named COPYING).\n\nA.
