License notice below.\n\n\u003cimg alt=\"prox-sense directional board\" src=\"./boards/prox-sense-single-mtch105-v0.1/prox-sense-single-mtch105-directional-v0.1-19.05mm-handsolder/out/prox-sense-single-mtch105-directional-v0.1-19.05mm-handsolder_3d-side-left_osh_white.png\" width=\"400px\"\u003e\n\n## Premise\n\n**Existing systems for creating interactive experiences:**\n\n - Expensive\n - Can be difficult to use or understand\n - Limited or nonexistent proximity detection (existing capacitive options)\n - Dense arrangements of proximity sensors may not function (existing\n   capacitive options)\n - Connectivity options do not scale up to large systems of sensors\n - Equivalent/alternative optical systems are intrusive, expensive, or\n   predictable (cameras, vision systems)\n - Require large amounts of processing or setup\n - Existing tactile systems are predictable (buttons, knobs, touchscreens,\n   etc.)\n\n**prox-sense promotes discoverable and new interactions:**\n\n - Inexpensive\n - Focus on proximity detection\n - Proximity through solid and opaque objects (sensors can be entirely hidden)\n - Directional proximity detection options allow for dense arrangements\n - Interaction is led by the objects the sensors are hidden in and the\n   resulting interactions, not the sensors and sensor limitations\n - Small sensors allow for small detection areas and objects\n - Simple connectivity scales up to large systems without limiting the maximum\n   number of easily-connected sensors\n - Open source and free to produce\n\n## Boards\n\nCurrently all boards are based around the [Microchip\nMTCH105](https://www.microchip.com/en-us/product/MTCH105)\n\n - Simple GPIO interface for detection and sensitivity adjustment.
