Posts from the blog supersede the handbook\nand student supplement and more recent blog posts supersede older blog posts.\n\n## Documentation\n\n* `biblatex-sbl.pdf`: Style usage and documentation summary.\n* `biblatex-sbl.bib`: Database entries for all example citations in the\n  handbook, student supplement, and on the blog\n* `biblatex-sbl-blog-examples.pdf`: Example usage for all example citations on\n  the blog.\n* `biblatex-sbl-handbook-examples.pdf`: Example usage for all example\n  citations in the handbook.\n* `biblatex-sbl-studentsupplement-examples.pdf`: Example usage for all example\n  citations in the student supplement to the handbook.\n\n## Installation from TeXLive, or MiKTeX\n\n`biblatex-sbl` is in TeXLive and MiKTeX and can be installed in the usual way\nthrough your distribution. E.g., in TeXLive by running:\n\n```\ntlmgr install biblatex-sbl\n```\n\n## Installation from Git source\n\n`biblatex-sbl` uses the `l3build` system.\n\nClone the git repository using:\n\n```\ngit clone https://github.com/dcpurton/biblatex-sbl.git\n```\n\nChange to the `biblatex-sbl` directory and the style files and documentation\ncan be installed by running:\n\n```\nl3build install --full\n```\n\n**Note:** Although supporting fallbacks, for best results the documentation\nuses several fonts not found in a standard TeXLive installation. You can\ndownload and install the non-standard fonts if you want to rebuild the\ndocumentation:\n\n- The SBL biblical fonts available from\n  https://www.sbl-site.org/resources/fonts/\n- The Brill fonts available from\n  https://brill.com/page/resources_brilltypeface/brill-typeface\n- Estrangelo Edessa available in the Meltho font bundle at\n  https://bethmardutho.org/\n- Miriam Libre available from https://fonts.google.com/specimen/Miriam+Libre\n- Noto Serif Armenian available from\n  https://fonts.google.com/noto/specimen/Noto+Serif+Armenian\n- Noto Sans Syriac available from\n  https://fonts.google.com/noto/specimen/Noto+Sans+Syriac\n\n## Backwards compatibility\n\nThe [*SBL Handbook of Style* blog](https://sblhs2.com/) has now made SBL style a rolling style that changes with each blog\npost. Because of this, preserving backward compatibility between releases is\nnot feasible for time I have available to maintain this style and neither is\nit possible to provide options to vary the style to cater for different\nseminaries and theological colleges.\n\n**In particular, version 2.0 and later of `biblatex-sbl` completely breaks\ncompatibility with the version 0.x releases.** If you need to access a legacy\nrelease, you should download it from the GitHub repository and place the style\nfiles locally in your project.
