It is intended to facilitate systematic analysis of search results, e.g. for \n(algorithmic) bias.\n\nCurrently, it supports the following search engines:\n* [Baidu](https://baidu.com)\n* [Bing](https://www.bing.com)\n* [DuckDuckGo](https://duckduckgo.com) (organic results only)\n* [Google](https://www.google.com)\n* [Najdi.si](https://najdi.si)\n* [Seznam](https://seznam.cz)\n* [Yandex](https://yandex.com)\n\nEngine support requires regular maintenance to keep up with changes to the engines. If something does not work, we\nwelcome issues and pull requests.\n\nThe extension does not interfere with your normal browsing and never uploads data. It uses the \n[WebRequest](https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Mozilla/Add-ons/WebExtensions/API/webRequest) browser API to \nlocally collect and parse the data search engines are sending to your browser as you use it. \n\n## Installation\nZoekplaatje is in active development. .xpi files that you can use to install it in your browser are available on the \n[releases](https://github.com/digitalmethodsinitiative/zoekplaatje/releases) page. These are signed and can be installed \nin any Firefox-based browser. If you want to run the latest development version instead, you can [do so from the Firefox\ndebugging console](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J7el77F1ckg) after cloning the repository locally.\n\n## How to use\nInstall the browser extension in a Firefox browser. A button with the Zoekplaatje logo (a silhouette) will appear in the \nbrowser toolbar. Click it to open the Zoekplaatje interface. Enable capturing for the search engines you want to \ncapture from.\n\nNext, simply search for things as you normally would. While Zoekplaatje is enabled, results will be saved in the \nbackground. You can then download the results as a .csv file with the button in the interface when you are done and\nwant to inspect the results.
