It's an independent\nproject, unlinked to the R Foundation.\n\nMost common use-cases:\n\n* get the source code for a stable/unstable R release;\n* install all the needed tools and libraries needed for the build;\n* build the source code three with different options;\n* update and deploy the R environment.\n\nEverything rely upon the Bash shell and could run on almost all modern GNU/Linux \ndistributions. It's the main focus.
