is to *Step Functions* as **High level language** is to *Assembly*.\n \nStepper allows you to write AWS Step Functions using modern programming constructs such as `if else` branching, `for` \nand `while` loops, `try catch` for error handling and natural expressions such as `a = arr.length + 1`. \nTo illustrate, let us create a step function that generates the first 10 Fibonnaci numbers and stores them into an SQS \nqueue. \n\n```Javascript\n\n@Comment(\"Generate Fibonnaci numbers\")\n@TimeoutSeconds(120)\n@Version(\"1.0\")\nstepper Fibonnaci {\n \n previous = 1;\n fib = 0;\n \n for (c = 1 to 10) {\n body = fib + \"\"; // queue message must be a string\n sqs = task { // write to queue\n \"Resource\": \"arn:aws:states:::sqs:sendMessage\",\n \"Parameters\": {\n \"MessageBody.$\": \"$.body\",\n \"QueueUrl\": \"https://sqs.us-east-1.amazonaws.com/1570xxxx/fibo\"\n }\n }\n temp = fib;\n fib += previous;\n previous = temp;\n }\n}\n\n```\n \nAs you can see, the above code feels like a modern programming language (Stepper seeks compatibility with Javascript \nexpression syntax and built-in functions). The Stepper compiler turns the variables used into ASL json attributes and \nthen creates a supporting Lambda function to evaluate expressions used. Stepper will compile the code above into the \nfollowing state machine.\n\n\u003cdetails\u003e\n \u003csummary\u003eJSON for Fibonnaci step function ...
