`error.cause`.\n\n[`error.cause`](https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Web/JavaScript/Reference/Global_Objects/Error/cause)\nis a recent JavaScript feature to wrap errors.\n\n```js\ntry {\n  doSomething()\n} catch (cause) {\n  throw new Error('message', { cause })\n}\n```\n\nUnfortunately, it is\n[not supported](https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Web/JavaScript/Reference/Global_Objects/Error/cause#browser_compatibility)\nin Node \u003c16.9.0, Opera nor Safari \u003c15. This library adds support for it in those\nenvironments.\n\n# Differences with other polyfills\n\nUnlike [`error-cause`](https://github.com/es-shims/error-cause):\n\n- The package size is small (~50kB vs ~2000kB)\n- `Error` child classes still work\n- [`Error.stackTraceLimit`](https://nodejs.org/api/errors.html#errorstacktracelimit)\n  still works\n- `error.stack` does not include the polyfill's internal code (in Node.js and\n  Chrome)\n\nUnlike\n[`core-js`](https://github.com/zloirock/core-js)/[Babel](https://github.com/babel/babel),\nthis does not require adding `core-js` as a production dependency (~1000kB).\n\n# Install\n\n```bash\nnpm install error-cause-polyfill\n```\n\nThis package works in both Node.js \u003e=18.18.0 and\n[browsers](https://raw.githubusercontent.com/ehmicky/dev-tasks/main/src/browserslist).\n\nThis is an ES module. It must be loaded using\n[an `import` or `import()` statement](https://gist.github.com/sindresorhus/a39789f98801d908bbc7ff3ecc99d99c),\nnot `require()`. If TypeScript is used, it must be configured to\n[output ES modules](https://www.typescriptlang.org/docs/handbook/esm-node.html),\nnot CommonJS.\n\n# API\n\n## polyfill()\n\n_Return value_: `() =\u003e void`\n\nModifies the global error classes (`Error`, `TypeError`, etc.) so they support\n`error.cause`. If `error.cause` is already supported, this is a noop.\n\n\u003c!-- eslint-disable import/no-unassigned-import, import/extensions, n/file-extension-in-import --\u003e\n\n```js\nimport 'error-cause-polyfill/auto'\n\ntry {\n  doSomething()\n} catch (cause) {\n  throw new Error('message', { cause })\n}\n```\n\nOr alternatively:\n\n```js\nimport { polyfill } from 'error-cause-polyfill'\n\npolyfill()\n\ntry {\n  doSomething()\n} catch (cause) {\n  throw new Error('message', { cause })\n}\n```\n\nThis returns a function to undo everything.\n\n```js\nimport { polyfill } from 'error-cause-polyfill'\n\nconst undoPolyfill = polyfill()\nundoPolyfill()\n```\n\n## getErrors()\n\n_Return value_: `object`\n\nReturns an object with each error class (`Error`, `TypeError`, etc.) but with\n`error.cause` support.
