Most of the pages on the website are built by\n[Incremental Static\nRegeneration](https://nextjs.org/docs/basic-features/data-fetching/incremental-static-regeneration)\nserver-side for fast client-side rendering and better SEO.\n\nDynamic content for the website is fetched from [Notion][res-notion], where it\ncan be conveniently edited by authorized users. If you are a member of ELIXIR\nCloud \u0026 AAI and would like to contribute dynamic content, please [contact\nus](#contact).\n\n## Developing\n\nAnyone is welcome to contribute to website development. To set up a development\nenvironment, follow the steps outlined in this section.\n\n### Development requirements\n\nEnsure you have the following software installed:\n\n- Node (v14.8.0)\n- Node.js (v10.19.0)\n- NPM (6.14.7)\n\n\u003e These are the versions used for development/testing. Other versions may or\n\u003e may not work. Please let us know if you encounter any issues with _newer_\n\u003e versions than the ones listed.\n\n### Setting up the development environment\n\nFork \u0026 clone this repository on your local machine, then install the required\ndependencies with:\n\n```bash\nnpm install\n```\n\nFor the API/backend, first create a [Notion][res-notion]. Then, open the\n[ELIXIR Cloud \u0026 AAI Notion page][res-notion-elixir-cloud-aai] and duplicate\nit to your account. Then, create a [Notion Developers account][res-notion-devs]\nwith the same email. Finally, [create a new integration][res-notion-integration]\nin your account, note down the \"Internal Integration Token\" and [link the\nintegration][res-notion-link-integration] to the to the duplicated page in your\naccount.\n\nCreate a file `.env.local` in the repository's root directory with the\nfollowing command (don't forget to replace the values with your own ones):\n\n```bash\ncat \u003c\u003c EOF \u003e .env.local\nNOTION_TOKEN=\u003cYOUR_TOKEN\u003e\nEOF\n```\n\n\u003e An example file with the required variables is also available in\n\u003e `.sample.env`. Instead of the command above, you can make a copy of the file\n\u003e in `.env` and replace the values with your own.\n\nStart the local development server with:\n\n```bash\nnpm run dev\n```\n\n## Deploying\n\nThe website can be conveniently deployed via Docker Compose.\n\n### Deployment requirements\n\nEnsure you have the following software installed:\n\n- Docker (19.03.8, build afacb8b7f0)\n- Docker Compose (1.23.1, build b02f1306)\n- Git (2.25.1)\n\n\u003e These are the versions used for development/testing. Please let us know if you encounter any issues with _newer_\n\u003e versions than the ones listed.\n\n### Deploying the website\n\nTo deploy the app, first clone the repository with _either_ of the following:\n\n```bash\ngit clone https://github.com/elixir-cloud-aai/landing-page.git\ngit clone git@github.com:elixir-cloud-aai/landing-page.git\ngh repo clone elixir-cloud-aai/landing-page\n```\n\nThen set the Notion token:\n\n```bash\nexport NOTION_TOKEN=\u003cYOUR-TOKEN\u003e\n```\n\nFinally, build and deploy the app image with the following command:\n\n```bash\ndocker-compose up --build -d\n```\n\nThe website should now be available at `http://localhost`.\n\n\u003e By default, the website is served at port 80. You can change that in\n\u003e `docker-compose.yaml`.\n\nOf course, these deployment instructions are only a starting point. You may\nwant to adapt them to your individual needs.\n\n\u003e **IMPORTANT NOTE:** **Never** publish the built container image!
