International License (CC BY 4.0)](https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/)  \n\n## Voxel Models in Avoyd\n\nHow to open files in Avoyd, edit voxel models (including using them as brushes), render and export.\n\n### Open a Voxel Model\n\nTo open an Avoyd World file, follow the steps below:\n1. [Download Avoyd](https://www.enkisoftware.com/products) - _currently Windows only_.  \n1. Install and open Avoyd.  \n1. Download a [compatible file](#file-formats-compatible-with-avoyd) from [this repository](#avoyd-voxel-models) or [other sources](#other-voxel-resources) and save it on your PC.  \n1. Open the `Voxel Editor`.\n1. Open menu `File \u003e Load World as Paste Brush`.  \n1. Browse and select an Avoyd world file `.avwr`. \n1. Use the world file model as a paste brush. (CC BY 4.0)  \n\n\n# Contributions\n\nIf you'd like to contribute your own Avoyd voxel models, please follow the instructions:  \n* **The work licence must be [CC BY 4.0](https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/) or more permissive.**  \n* Avoyd world file `.avwr` configuration:\n    * Use a short, descriptive file name.  \n    * Specify the license and attribution in the `Notes` field in `View \u003e World Properties`.  \n    * Orient the model along the `y` axis (+y is up). *You can use the Edit Tool's Anchor to visualise the axes.*  \n    * Try to limit the file size to `2MB`. To cleanup and compress the model:\n      1. Centre the model on origin using `Edit \u003e Move World Centre to Origin`.  \n      1. Reduce the number of Materials to be only those used in the model using `Edit \u003e Remove Unused Materials`.  \n      1. Defragment using `Edit \u003e Defragment the Octree`.  \n      1.
