world.\n- Provide a support for dicussion during security related talks\n- Avoid promoting paronoid advices, this should be understandable by most people\n\n\n## A few steps to check\n\n### Accounts\n\n- [ ] Use a solid and reputed password manager\n- [ ] Only use strong passwords\n- [ ] Remove useless accounts\n- [ ] Security questions’ answers should not be easy to find\n- [ ] Security questions’ answers can be random and managed in the password manager\n- [ ] Rotate passwords regularly (ex: once a year)\n- [ ] Have a clear and secure way to share passwords\n\n### Communications\n\n- [ ] Setup secure channels for everyday uses and emergency purposes\n- [ ] Be able to authenticate exchanges (GPG)\n- [ ] Encrypt everything (GPG)\n\n### Companies\n\n- [ ] Setup bug bounties\n- [ ] Idea: sentinel network\n- [ ] Dedicated security team\n- [ ] Have an incident response plan and team\n\n### Crypto\n\n- [ ] Hardware wallet\n- [ ] If hardware wallet is not possible, paper wallet\n- [ ] Escape hatch?\n\n### Users\n\n- [ ] Should understand the risks of social engineering and phishing attacks\n- [ ] Have the least privileges needed to perform their work\n\n### Servers\n\n- [ ] Use an SSH public key\n- [ ] Ultra restrictive firewall (whitelist)\n- [ ] Fail2ban like system\n- [ ] Regular automated backups on a remote system\n- [ ] Audit and IPS / IDS system, with logs sent to a remote system\n- [ ] Isolate services via Docker or an equivalent (rkt…)\n- [ ] Use honeypots\n\n### Social\n\n- [ ] Avoid posting locations\n- [ ] Avoid posting your trips and vacations (people know you ain’t home)\n- [ ] Avoid clear posting patterns (random post habits)\n- [ ] Do you need this profile?\n\n### System\n- [ ] Regular backups\n- [ ] Setup backup reminders (TimeMachine does it for you)\n- [ ] Redundant backups (if you lose one)\n- [ ] Use a strong session password\n- [ ] Encrypt data\n- [ ] Lock firmware with a password\n- [ ] Turn on secure boot, with its maximum settings\n- [ ] Disallow booting from something else than the hard drive\n- [ ] OS should have protection features built in and turned on\n- [ ] Have a good firewall, with restrictive settings\n- [ ] Check confidentiality
