At least, that's what my Mum tells me. More seriously, I have a BE(hons) in Software Engineering and I've been working full time in the industry since 2016 and interning at various companies since 2014. My background is in C#, C++ and Typescript/JavaScript.\n\n## Previous Work\n\n### Jobs\n[Envoy](https://www.envoyat.com/): November 2020 - current\n\n[Google](https://google.com/): September 2018 - February 2020\n\n[Envoy](https://www.envoyat.com/): May 2017 - August 2018\n\n### Internships\n[Mozilla](https://mozilla.org/): November 2017 - February 2018\n\n[Jade](https://www.jadeworld.com/): November 2015 - February 2016\n\n[Orion Health](https://orionhealth.com): November 2014 - February 2015\n\n-----------------------------------------------------------------------\n\nCurrently, I'm employed at Envoy Advanced Technologies, where I'm working on a number of projects including React Native PWAs for Australian [news](https://the-riotact.com/) publications, [Building Certification Software](https://www.certification.systems/), and livestock accounting software for [AAco](https://aaco.com.au/).\n\nAt Google I was working on Chromium, with a particular focus on offline web apps on desktop. My contributions included design and implementation work on the [Badging API](https://www.chromestatus.com/feature/6068482055602176), implementing the custom tab bar for desktop PWAs, and designing and implementing a prototype of a new [File Handling API](https://www.chromestatus.com/feature/5721776357113856) for Progressive Web Apps (PWAs). This work was largely C++ based, though I also did standardization work for these APIs.\n\nBefore Google, I was (again) employed at Envoy Advanced Technologies where I worked on a number of projects, including a piece of enterprise software for managing building certifications ([BCS](https://www.certification.systems/)), using ASP.NET and Knockout; a cross platform mobile app for building inspectors, using Xamarin Forms; an iOS app written in Swift to showcase a new streaming algorithm; and a new [corporate travel product](https://www.alienta.net), written in dotnet core 2.0, React and TypeScript.\n\nOver the 2016/2017 summer, I interned in the Mozilla media team, which involved work with encrypted video playback and content decryption modules. This was almost entirely in C++ (with a little side of JavaScript, for tests). In particular I added sub sample encryption support to EME playback of MP4 ([Bug 1318792](https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1318792)) and WebM videos ([Bug 1306477](https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1306477)), which included some major refactors and minor bugfixes.\n\nFor the 2015/2016 break I interned at Jade, as a part of a Callaghan grant, doing researchy stuff. This work was mostly in C# (for the backend) with a side of JavaScript for an Angular.js frontend. I worked on a few different aspects of a project called ‘[OnSide](https://onside.co.nz/company/blog/onside-and-jade-software-bring-innovation-to-health-and-safety/);’ an app for helping farmers keep track of risks and contractors on farms.\n\n## My Education\n\n### Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST)\n**start 2016 - mid 2016**: As part of an exchange program with my home university.\n- Studied at HKUST, the top rated university in Asia (well, according to [their website](http://www.ust.hk/about-hkust/rankings/)).\n- Travelled around Asia, generally having a rather good time.\n- Received the Prime Minister's Scholarship for Asia ([PMSA](https://enz.govt.nz/support/funding/scholarships/prime-ministers-scholarship-for-asia/)).\n- Received the [UC Outward Mobility Scholarship](http://www.canterbury.ac.nz/scholarshipsearch/ScholarshipDetails.aspx?ScholarshipID=6935.1331).\n\n### University of Canterbury\n**start 2013 - end 2016**: Graduated December 2016 with a Bachelor of Engineering and First Class Honors.\n- Completed my first course in my third year of high school, getting an A+ through STAR (a program high schools run that lets you sit University papers for free).\n- Started work on getting myself a degree in 2013. Fully enrolled and started crossing off courses I needed for the intermediate year, while remaining a part-time student at Unlimited (see below).\n- My GPA, as of graduation was 7.55 (an A- is 7 while an A is 8).\n\n\n### Unlimited Paenga Tawhiti (Unlimited or UPT)\n**start 2009 - end 2013**: \n- School dux in 2013.\n\n## Projects\nLinks to my [BitBucket](https://bitbucket.org/fallaciousreasoning/) and [GitHub](https://github.com/fallaciousreasoning/) profiles. Following is a list of a some of my side projects, which are in varying stages of completion. A link to live versions of the projects are available on the Github pages, where applicable.\n\n- [Progrssive](https://github.com/fallaciousreasoning/progrssive): An PWA for reading RSS feeds, written with TypeScript and React. It works offline.\n- [NZ Topo](https://github.com/fallaciousreasoning/topo): A PWA for viewing NZ topographic maps and planning trips. It works offline. Started the project to learn Svelte and because I wanted an offline maps app in the backcountry. \n- [Discoverer](https://github.com/fallaciousreasoning/discoverer): A simple music discovery site I wrote to learn React.\n- [Bombs Away](https://github.com/fallaciousreasoning/bombs-away/): A game and physics engine I've been writing in TypeScript.\n- [BuildingDetector](https://bitbucket.org/fallaciousreasoning/buildingdetector)/[ResearchProject](https://bitbucket.org/fallaciousreasoning/researchproject/overview): Two projects which together form a rudimentary building detector that I built for my honors project.\n\n## References\nReferences can be provided upon request.\n\n\n\n","project_url":"https://awesome.ecosyste.ms/api/v1/projects/github.com%2Ffallaciousreasoning%2Fcv","html_url":"https://awesome.ecosyste.ms/projects/github.com%2Ffallaciousreasoning%2Fcv","lists_url":"https://awesome.ecosyste.ms/api/v1/projects/github.com%2Ffallaciousreasoning%2Fcv/lists"}
