PyChannels!!\n\nThis is a simple Python client that lets you talk to the [Channels](https://getchannels.com) app while it's running.\n\n## Installation\n\nYou can install PyChannels from PyPi using `pip3 install pychannels` (use pip if you're still using Python 2).\n\n## Usage\n\nJust create a new client and give it the host name of the device that Channels is running on. You can optionally pass in a port, which defaults to `57000`.\n\n```python\nfrom pychannels import Channels\n\nclient = Channels(\"192.168.1.192\", 57000)\n\nclient.pause()\nclient.resume()\nclient.stop()\n```\n\n## API\n\nAll responses return the current status of Channels. You can get this simply with `client.status()`, but every other method will return it as well.\n\n### Status Data\n\nStatus data is returned as a simple Dict. Here's an example.\n\n```python\n{\n 'status': 'paused',\n 'muted': False,\n 'channel': {\n 'number': '35.1',\n 'name': 'Fox-HD',\n 'image_url': 'http://fanc.tmsimg.com/h5/NowShowing/28719/s28719_h5_aa.png'\n },\n 'now_playing': {\n 'title': 'The Mick',\n 'season_number': 2,\n 'episode_number': 16,\n 'episode_title': 'The Accident',\n 'image_url': 'http://fanc.tmsimg.com/assets/p12900954_b_h6_ad.jpg',\n 'summary': 'Chip offers to help Sabrina get a fake ID in exchange for a night out with her and her friends.'\n }\n}\n```\n\n### Info\n\nYou can fetch 2 sets of information from Channels. Its current status and the\ncurrent set of favorite channels.\n\n#### Status\n\n client.status()\n\nThis returns the result documented above.\n\n\n#### Favorite Channels\n\n client.favorite_channels()\n\nThis returns an array of channel Dicts. Here's an example.\n\n```python\n[{\n\t'number': '12.1',\n\t'call_sign': 'WWBT-HD',\n\t'image_url': 'http://fanc.tmsimg.com/h5/NowShowing/28717/s28717_h5_aa.png',\n\t'name': 'NBC HD',\n\t'hd': True\n}, {\n\t'number': '35.1',\n\t'call_sign': 'Fox-HD',\n\t'image_url': 'http://fanc.tmsimg.com/h5/NowShowing/28719/s28719_h5_aa.png',\n\t'name': 'Fox-HD',\n\t'hd': True\n}, {\n\t'number': '552',\n\t'call_sign': 'TBS HD',\n\t'image_url': 'http://fanc.tmsimg.com/h5/NowShowing/58515/s58515_h5_aa.png',\n\t'name': 'TBS HD',\n\t'hd': True\n}, {\n\t'number': '570',\n\t'call_sign': 'ESPN HD',\n\t'image_url': 'http://fanc.tmsimg.com/h5/NowShowing/32645/s32645_h5_aa.png',\n\t'name': 'ESPN HD',\n\t'hd': True\n}]\n```\n\n### Commands\n\nYou can control Channels with these methods.\n\n#### Toggle Mute\n client.toggle_mute\n\n#### Toggle Captions\n client.toggle_cc\n\n#### Channel Up\n client.channel_up\n\n#### Channel Down\n client.channel_down\n\n#### Previous Channel\n client.previous_channel\nJump back to the last watched channel.\n\n#### Toggle Pause\n client.toggle_pause\n\n#### Toggle Recording\n client.toggle_record\nRecord the program playing on the current channel\n\n#### Pause\n client.pause\n\n#### Resume\n client.resume\n\n#### Stop\n client.stop\n\n#### Seek By\n client.seek_by(seconds)\nSeek forward or backward on the timeline with an inputted number of seconds. Negative values go backward.\n\n#### Seek Forward\n client.seek_forward\nSeek forward in the timeline by the set number of seconds in Channels.\n\n#### Skip Forward\n client.skip_forward\nSkip to the next chapter mark. This is for recordings made with Channels DVR that have their commercials indexed.\n\n#### Seek Backward\n client.seek_backward\nSeek backward in the timeline by the set number of seconds in Channels.\n\n#### Skip Backward\n client.skip_backward\nSkip to the previous chapter mark. This is for recordings made with Channels DVR that have their commercials indexed.\n\n#### Play Channel\n client.play_channel(channel_number)\nPlay a channel by passing it the channel number.\n\n#### Play Recording\n client.play_recording(recording_id)\nPlay a recording from Channels.\n\n#### Navigate\n client.navigate(section)\nChange to a section of the app by providing its name.
