The CLI also has limited support for ingesting data, but it is no substitute for a dedicated log shipper like FileBeat.\n\n_This repository also contains Humio GoLang API client you can\nuse to build your own tools._\n\n## Installation\n\n### MacOS\n\n```bash\n$ brew tap humio/humio\n$ brew install humioctl\n```\n\n### Linux (via Snapcraft)\n\n```bash\n$ sudo snap install humioctl\n```\n\n### Nix\n\n```bash\n$ nix-env -i humioctl\n```\n### Any OS (via Go)\n\n```bash\n$ go install github.com/humio/cli/cmd/humioctl@latest\n```\n\n### Manual installation\n\nDownload the latest release archive from the [releases](https://github.com/humio/cli/releases) page, unpack and enjoy!\n\n## Usage\n\nTo get started just write:\n\n```bash\n$ humioctl\n```\n\nand you will be asked to connect to your Humio cluster.\nTo list all commands use:\n\n```bash\n$ humioctl help\n```\n\nWill print all the different options and commands currently supported.\n\n## Sending Logs\n\n```bash\n$ tail -f /var/log/system.log | humio ingest\n\n# or\n\n$ humioctl ingest --tail=/var/log/system.log\n```\n\nYou can have Humio's UI open and tail the newly imported data using the `-open`\nflag.\n\n## @label and @session\n\nWhen streaming data into Humio using the `ingest` command all events\nwill be annotated with `@label` and `@session` attributes.  `@label`\ngives you a way to tag your streams to easily find them again e.g.:\n\n```bash\n$ humioctl ingest -label=work-related -tail=/var/log/mysql.log\n```\n\n```java\n@label = \"work-related\" | groupby(loglevel)\n```\n\n`@session` is a unique id that is generated for each execution of the `humio`\nbinary. This allows you to find results for this session and nothing else.\n\n## Profiles and Environment Variables\n\nTo make it easier to switch between different Humio clusters, you can\nconfigure a profile for each cluster. The configuration file, containing the\nAPI token and server address for all profiles will be default be saved in\n`$HOME/.humio/config.yaml`.\n\nAdding a profile and making it the new default can be done using:\n\n```bash\n$ humioctl profiles add my-profile\n$ humioctl profiles set-default my-profile\n\nIt is also possible to use environment variables, and these will take\nprecendence over the default profile.\n\n```bash\n# Your account API token.
