Ardent Collector\n\n## About this software\n\nThe Ardent Collector gathers data submitted to the [Elite Dangerous Data Network](https://github.com/EDCD/EDDN).\n\nArdent has details for over 150,000,000 star systems and over 30,000,000 trade \norders for commodities and information across markets on over 300,000 stations,\nports, settlements and fleet carriers throughout the galaxy, with millions of \nupdates per day.\n\nThe Ardent Collector writes data it gathers to relational databases and \ngenerates reports from the data (e.g. summaries of commodity supply and demand \nand trade reports for different regions) and provides access to the data via \nthe [Ardent API](https://github.com/iaincollins/ardent-api) and raw data dumps.\n\nRelated repositories:\n\n* attempts to connect to the \nthe EDDN (Elite Dangerous Data Network) ZeroMQ instance at \ntcp://eddn.edcd.io:9500 at startup to receive a data stream.\n\nBecause of this, and other dependancies, it is built against Node.js v18.x,\nan older LTS release that is end-of-life 2025-04-30 and may not work with \nother versions of Node.js until issues with newer versiosn of the ZeroMQ \nlibrary are resolved.\n\nAfter doing `npm install` you can run the service with `npm start`.\n\nYou may need to run `npm run stats` least once to generate cached data and \navoid errors being displayed at start up, but this is a scheduled task and\nwill happen automatically eventually if you leave the service running for \nlong enough.\n\n## Credits\n\n_This software would not be possible without work from
