The third is being used by AI.\"\n\n## Mode 1: The Captain (将才)\n\n**Works alongside the agent. Delegates tasks they *can* do but choose not to.**\n\nKey insight: Every task delegated is also a lesson observed. They don't just get output. They get education.\n\n### Archetypes\n- **Han Xin (韩信)** - Started as foot soldier, became greatest general in Chinese history\n- **Julius Caesar** - Wrote *The Gallic Wars* while fighting them\n\n### For OpenClaw Users\nStart here. Run tasks with OpenClaw, but pay attention to *how* it solves things. That's where the compound interest is.\n\n## Mode 2: The Architect (帅才)\n\n**Doesn't do the work directly. Invests cognitive energy in three things:**\n\n1. **Probing** - Systematically mapping the agent's capability boundaries\n2. **Decomposition** - Breaking complex goals into reliable units\n3. **Verification** - Spot-checking quality at critical nodes\n\n### Archetypes\n- **Liu Bang (刘邦)** - \"I can use them. That is why I won the world.\"\n- **Eisenhower** - Orchestrated D-Day without firing a single shot\n\n### For OpenClaw Users\nDeploy proven workflows across projects. Design the system that puts the right agent on the right problem.\n\n## Mode 3: The Abdicator (刘禅)\n\n**The dirtiest word in management. Throws a task at the agent, accepts whatever comes back, ships it.**\n\nNo boundary testing. No quality check. No thinking.\n\n### Archetypes\n- **Liu Shan (刘禅)** - \"I'm having such a good time here, I don't think about Shu at all.\" (乐不思蜀)\n- **Nero** - Fiddling while Rome burned\n\n### The MIT Study Connection\nThe MIT \"Cognitive Debt\" paper showed heavy AI users have weakened brain connectivity. \n\n**But the conclusion isn't \"AI makes you dumb.\"**\n\nThe data shows that *passively consuming AI output* weakens cognition. It doesn't say anything about people who actively lead AI.\n\n\u003e AI didn't make anyone dumber. Giving up thinking makes people dumber. AI just made giving up unprecedentedly easy.\n\n## Two Modes, Not Two Types\n\n**These are modes, not types of people.**\n\n- I Captain when exploring a new tool\n- I switch to Architect when deploying proven workflows\n- The best practitioners fluidly combine both\n\nHan Xin and Liu Bang existed in the same story. One couldn't have won without the other. The Captain needs the Architect's system.
