The focus of this package is to provide\nfunctionality for value formatting and ASCII rendering infrastructure\nfor tables and listings. Many of the functions contained in `rlistings`\ndepend on the\n[`formatters`](https://insightsengineering.github.io/formatters/)\npackage, which provides a framework for ASCII rendering and is available\non CRAN.\n\n`rlistings` development is driven by the need to create regulatory ready\nlistings for health authority review. Some of the key requirements for\nthis undertaking are listed below:\n\n-   flexible formatting (pagesize, column widths, alignment, labels,\n    etc.)\n-   multiple output formats (csv, out, txt)\n-   repeated key columns\n-   flexible pagination in both horizontal and vertical directions\n-   titles and footnotes\n\n`rlistings` currently covers some of these requirements, and remains\nunder active development.\n\n## Installation\n\n`rlistings` is available on CRAN and you can install the latest released\nversion with:\n\n``` r\ninstall.packages(\"rlistings\")\n```\n\nor you can install the latest development version directly from GitHub\nwith:\n\n``` r\n# install.packages(\"pak\")\npak::pak(\"insightsengineering/rlistings\")\n```\n\nPackaged releases (both those on CRAN and those between official CRAN\nreleases) can be found in the [releases\nlist](https://github.com/insightsengineering/rlistings/releases).\n\nTo understand how to use this package, please refer to the [Introduction to `rlistings`](https://insightsengineering.github.io/rlistings/latest-tag/articles/rlistings.html) article, which provides multiple examples of code implementation.\n\n## Cheatsheet\n\n\u003ca href=\"https://github.com/insightsengineering/rlistings/blob/main/inst/cheatsheet/rlistings_cheatsheet_03-24.pdf\"\u003e\u003cimg src=\"https://raw.githubusercontent.com/insightsengineering/rlistings/main/inst/cheatsheet/rlistings_cheatsheet_03-24_thumbs.png\" width=\"630\" height=\"249\"/\u003e\u003c/a\u003e\n\n## Usage\n\nThe following example shows a simple listing and its printed output.\n\n```{r}\nlibrary(rlistings)\n\n# Reducing the data\nmtcars_ex \u003c- mtcars %\u003e% dplyr::mutate(\"car\" = rownames(mtcars))\n\nas_listing(mtcars_ex,\n  key_cols = c(\"gear\", \"carb\"),\n  disp_cols = c(\"gear\", \"carb\", \"qsec\", \"car\")\n) %\u003e% head()\n```\n\n## Acknowledgment\n\nThis package is a result of a joint effort by many developers and\nstakeholders.
