Pandoc has now completely caught up with the purpose of this.**\n**It's also using a very out of date programming style. This makes it impossible for me to take it up again.**\n**Sorry, past me ;-)**\n\n`Flexirest` is a project that was born out of the authors long-running\ninterest for reStructuredText_, and the idea of writing everyday\ndocuments like letters, invoices and other simple documents in this\nway.\n\n.. _reStructuredText: http://docutils.sourceforge.net/rst.html\n\n`Flexirest` tries to strike a middle ground between docutils_ own\ncommand line tool chain (`rst2html` et al), that I find a little to\nminimalistic and Sphinx_, that I find very nice but a little heavy to\nuse for a quickie document like a random letter or some such.\n\n.. _docutils: http://docutils.sourceforge.net/\n.. _Sphinx: http://sphinx.pocoo.org/\n\nIn short, the goal of `flexirest` is to enable you to use the `reST`\nformat for everyday documents instead of a word processor or similar\nwith minimal fuzz. Hence you get to stay in the comfy environment of\nyour text editor and tool chain. And you can check in your docs *in text\nformat* into your version control system of choice. And, if used\ncorrectly, you get to reuse a couple of stylings that you only need to\ncreate once.\n\nThere are some modestly advanced tricks you can do too, primarily\nwriting your own `docutils` roles_, but I wouldn't consider those the\nmajor points of flexirest.\n\n.. _roles: http://docutils.sourceforge.net/docs/howto/rst-roles.html\n\nFor more information on how to operate `flexirest`, see the\n`quick manual`_.\n\n.. _quick manual: quick-manual.html\n.. _setuptools: http://pypi.python.org/pypi/setuptools\n\nChanges\n-------\n\n0.8.2\n+++++\n\n* A mechanism of two-stage writing used to support a new writer,\n  `latex2pdf` that renders directly to PDF via LaTeX if a suitable\n  executable is available on the host system.\n* `--infile` option to specify input from a file\n* `--outfile` option to specify output to a file\n* `--dump-parts` option to inspect output from different `docutils`\n  parts.\n* `--list-writer` option to list available writers on the host system.\n* No traceback when specifying a non-existant writer\n* All writers have at least the minimal template (`%(whole)s`)\n* Switch to `Distribute` instead of `setuptools` for development and\n  packaging.\n* Many small bugfixes and stability improvements\n","project_url":"https://awesome.ecosyste.ms/api/v1/projects/github.com%2Fjacob414%2Fflexirest","html_url":"https://awesome.ecosyste.ms/projects/github.com%2Fjacob414%2Fflexirest","lists_url":"https://awesome.ecosyste.ms/api/v1/projects/github.com%2Fjacob414%2Fflexirest/lists"}
