[@jwill9999](https://github.com/jwill9999).\n\n## Overview\n\nThis is an NPM package built upon the foundations of GitHubs own Spec-Kit.\n\nIt implements a simple wizard that steps you though the initial setup and allows you to save preset configurations for different environments.\n\nStart a project with by running `speckit` in your terminal, and let the wizard configure your Spec-Kit tooling.\n\nThen follow the steps below\n\n## Requirements\n\n- macOS/Linux/Windows\n- Node.js 20+\n- Git\n\n## Quick start\n\n### Installation\n\n```bash\nnpm install -g @letuscode/spec-kit\n```\n\n### Initialize a new project\n\n```bash\nspeckit\n```\n\nThis launches a simple, interactive wizard. It asks for a project name and your preferred AI assistant, then lays down the right command templates and scripts.\n\nTip: You can also run `speckit --help` to see all available options.\n\n## What it generates\n\nDepending on the AI assistant you pick, the wizard creates agent-specific command files under the right folders, for example:\n\n- .claude/commands/\n- .github/prompts/\n- .cursor/commands/\n- .qwen/commands/\n- .opencode/command/\n- .windsurf/workflows/\n\nIt also includes cross-platform helper scripts under scripts/ and prepares a space for your specifications (see specs/ when you start a feature).\n\n## Workflow steps at a glance\n\nOnce you have completed the `wizard` use your chosen environment i.e VSCode to run the prompt commands in.\n\n## Steps\n\n1. /constitution → set project principles\n2. /specify → write the feature spec (what/why)\n3. /plan → design the technical approach\n4. /tasks → break down implementation\n5. /implement → build according to the plan\n\n## Troubleshooting\n\n- Ensure Node 20+ and Git are installed and on PATH.\n- If your terminal is very narrow, the wizard uses a compact view automatically.\n- The wizard remembers your last choices in .specify/wizard.json (repo-local).
