It is built on a foundation of rock-solid \nopen-source projects covering both the transactional and operational aspects of\nCassandra deployments. This project is distributed as a collection of\n[Helm](https://helm.sh/) charts. Feel free to fork the repo and contribute. If\nyou're looking to install K8ssandra head over to the [Quickstarts](https://docs.k8ssandra.io/quickstarts/).\n\n## Components\nK8ssandra is composed of a number of sub-charts each representing a component in\nthe K8ssandra stack. The default installation is focused on developer\ndeployments with all of the features enabled and configured for running with a\nminimal set of resources. Many of these components may be deployed\nindependently in a centralized fashion. Below is a list of the components in the\nK8ssandra stack with links to the appropriate projects.\n\n### Apache Cassandra\nK8ssandra packages and deploys [Apache Cassandra](https://cassandra.apache.org/)\nvia the [cass-operator](https://github.com/k8ssandra/cass-operator) project. Each\nCassandra container has the [Management API for Apache Cassandra\n(MAAC)](https://github.com/datastax/management-api-for-apache-cassandra) and\n[Metrics Collector for Apache\nCassandra(MCAC)](https://github.com/datastax/metric-collector-for-apache-cassandra)\npre-installed and configured to come up automatically.\n\n### Stargate\n[Stargate](https://stargate.io/) provides a collection of horizontally scalable\nAPI endpoints for interacting with Cassandra databases. Developers may leverage\nREST and GraphQL alongside the traditional CQL interfaces. With Stargate\noperations teams gain the ability to independently scale coordination (Stargate)\nand data (Cassandra) layers. In some use-cases, this has resulted in a lower TCO and\nsmaller infrastructure footprint.\n\n### Monitoring\nMonitoring includes the collection, storage, and visualization of\nmetrics. Along with the previously mentioned MCAC, K8ssandra utilizes\n[Prometheus](https://prometheus.io/) and [Grafana](https://grafana.com/) for the\nstorage and visualization of metrics. Installation and management of these\npieces is handled by the [Kube Prometheus\nStack](https://github.com/prometheus-community/helm-charts/tree/main/charts/kube-prometheus-stack)\nHelm chart.\n\n### Repairs\nThe Last Pickle [Reaper](http://cassandra-reaper.io/) is used to schedule and\nmanage repairs in Cassandra. It provides a web interface to visualize repair\nprogress and manage activity.\n\n### Backup \u0026 Restore\n\nAnother project from The Last Pickle,\n[Medusa](https://github.com/thelastpickle/cassandra-medusa), manages the backup\nand restore of K8ssandra clusters. \n\n## Next Steps\n\nIf you are looking to run K8ssandra in your [Kubernetes](https://kubernetes.io/) \nenvironment check out the [Getting Started guide](https://k8ssandra.io/get-started/), with follow-up details for \n[developers](https://docs.k8ssandra.io/quickstarts/developer/) and \n[site reliability engineers](https://docs.k8ssandra.io/quickstarts/site-reliability-engineer/). \n\nWe are always looking for contributions to the docs, helm charts, and underlying\ncomponents. Check out the [code contribution guide](https://k8ssandra.io/community/code-contribution-guidelines/) \nand [docs contribution guide](httpshttps://docs.k8ssandra.io/contribute/)\n\nIf you are a **developer** interested in working with the K8ssandra code, here is a \n[guide](https://github.com/k8ssandra/k8ssandra/blob/main/dev-quick-start.md) that will give you an introduction to:\n\n* Important technologies and learning resources\n* Project components\n* Project processes and resources\n* Getting up and running with a basic IDE environment\n* Deploying to a local docker-based cluster environment (kind)\n* Understanding the K8ssandra project structure\n* Running unit tests\n* Troubleshooting tips\n\n## Dependencies\n\nFor information on the packaged dependencies of K8ssandra and their licenses, check out our [open source report](https://app.fossa.com/reports/997b0a6e-2a80-497e-b540-d50a83727ac2).\n","project_url":"https://awesome.ecosyste.ms/api/v1/projects/github.com%2Fk8ssandra%2Fk8ssandra","html_url":"https://awesome.ecosyste.ms/projects/github.com%2Fk8ssandra%2Fk8ssandra","lists_url":"https://awesome.ecosyste.ms/api/v1/projects/github.com%2Fk8ssandra%2Fk8ssandra/lists"}
