The [Data Collections Explorer](https://rxp.datamanager.kit.edu) is an information system focussed on the engineering sciences. We want to help your search for subject specific repositories, archives, databases, and individually published datasets by answering these questions:\n- Are there datasets available to support my research questions?\n- Are there benchmarks available to check my results?\n- Are datasets published Open Access?\n- Where to publish my research datasets?\n- Are there size limitations for datasets?\n- Are there publication costs?\n\n### Features\n- Filtering for type of resource, subject area, Open Access\n- Full-text search of the entries\n- Constantly updated based on community feedback\n\n## Getting Started\n\nFor local development, you need [RStudio](https://www.rstudio.com/) with the following packages installed:\n- rmarkdown\n- flexdashboard\n- DT\n- readr\n\nThese can be installed from within R as follows:\n```\ninstall.packages(c(\"rmarkdown\", \"flexdashboard\", \"DT\", \"readr\"))\n```\n\nDocker is required If you want to serve a local instance of the Data Collections Explorer. Run the following\ncommands to set up the container:\n```\n# This builds the container and installs the required packages\ndocker build -t nfdi4ing-data-collections-explorer:v1 - \u003c Dockerfile\n# Start the container\ndocker compose up\n```\nOnce the container is up and running, it can be accessed at `localhost:3838`.\n\nThe R Markdown document (index.Rmd) and the CSV table to be served are located in the `application` directory\noutside the Docker container. When the Docker container is run for the first time, a directory `shiny-logs` is\ncreated on the same level as the `application` directory.\n\n## Contributions\n\nPlease make a pull request (or open an issue) if you miss a dataset, repository, database, or archive.
