:source-paths #{\"src\"}\n :dependencies '[[lambdaisland/kaocha-boot \"...\"]])\n\n(require '[kaocha.boot-task :refer [kaocha]])\n```\n\nAdd a binstub called `bin/kaocha`\n\n``` bash\nmkdir -p bin\necho '#!/usr/bin/env sh' \u003e bin/kaocha\necho 'boot kaocha \"$@\"' \u003e\u003e bin/kaocha\nchmod +x bin/kaocha\n```\n\n#### Clojure CLI (tools.deps) :exec-fn alternative\n\nWe also support using the Clojure CLI `:exec-fn`/`-X`. However, we recommend the\nbinstub approach above because it allows you to use traditional long and short\noptions. If you nonetheless prefer `:exec-fn`/`-X`, you can set up `deps.edn`:\n\n```clojure\n;; deps.edn\n{:deps { ,,, }\n :aliases\n {:test {:extra-deps {lambdaisland/kaocha {:mvn/version \"1.91.1392\"}}\n :exec-fn kaocha.runner/exec-fn\n :exec-args {}}}}\n```\n\nAnd then Kaocha can be invoked this way: `clojure -X:test`\n\nGenerally speaking, we recommend using `tests.edn` for all of your configuration\nrather than putting it in `exec-args` unless there's an alternative combination\nof options you frequently run.\n\nIn that case, you can put configuration options `:exec-args` as though it were\n`tests.edn`. Let's say you frequently use watch with `:fail-fast` and a subset\nof tests skipped. You could save that configuration with an additional alias:\n`clojure -X:watch-test` like so:\n\n\n```clojure\n;; deps.edn\n{:deps { ,,, }\n :aliases\n {:test {:extra-deps {lambdaisland/kaocha {:mvn/version \"1.91.1392\"}}\n :exec-fn kaocha.runner/exec-fn\n :exec-args {}}\n :watch-test {:extra-deps {lambdaisland/kaocha {:mvn/version \"1.91.1392\"}}\n :exec-fn kaocha.runner/exec-fn\n :exec-args {:watch? true\n\t :skip-meta :slow\n\t :fail-fast? true }}}}\n```\n\nIf you wanted to turn off `fail-fast` temporarily, you could run `clojure\n-X:watch-test :fail-fast? false`\n\nYou can also pass exec-args on the command line like so:\n\n`clojure -X:test :print-config true :kaocha.plugin.randomize/seed 603964682`\n\n### Babashka\n\nKaocha is compatible with [Babashka](https://github.com/babashka/babashka).\n\nYou can create a `bb.edn` file:\n\n```clojure\n{:paths [\"src\" \"test\"]\n :deps {lambdaisland/kaocha {:mvn/version \"1.91.1392\"}}}\n\n```\n\nThen you can create a binstub named `bin/kaocha-bb`:\n\n```shell\n\n#!/usr/bin/env bash\nbb -m kaocha.runner/-main $@\n\n```\n\nIf you exclusively want to run tests using Babashka, you can of course call it\n`bin/kaocha`.\n\n### All tools\n\nBy default, Kaocha assumes that:\n- source files are in the `src/` folder,\n- test files are in the `test/` folder,\n- all test namespaces _names_ end with `-test`\n(e.g. `my-project.core-test`).\nAlso, the default test suite id is `:unit` (just `unit` on the command line).\n\nIf your tests don't seem to run (outcome is `0 tests, 0 assertions, 0 failures`)\nyou may need to write up your own configuration: add a `tests.edn` at the root\nof the project to configure actual test and source paths, and optionally set a\nreporter or load plugins (cf. Configuration in the\n[documentation](https://cljdoc.org/d/lambdaisland/kaocha/)).\n\n\nExample of a catch-all `tests.edn` config file (should run all\ntests found in `src/` and `/test`, in any namespace).\n``` clojure\n#kaocha/v1\n{:tests [{:id :unit\n :test-paths [\"test\" \"src\"]\n :ns-patterns [\".*\"]}]\n ;; :reporter kaocha.report.progress/report\n ;; :plugins [:kaocha.plugin/profiling :kaocha.plugin/notifier]\n }\n```\nWarning: this is not an optimal configuration. To avoid extra churn, you should\ntry and target only folders and namespaces that actually contain tests.\n\nRun your tests\n\n``` shell\nbin/kaocha\n\n# Watch for changes\nbin/kaocha --watch\n\n# Exit at first failure\nbin/kaocha --fail-fast\n\n# Only run the `unit` suite\nbin/kaocha unit\n\n# Only run a single test\nbin/kaocha --focus my.app.foo-test/bar-test\n\n# Use an alternative config file\nbin/kaocha --config-file tests_ci.edn\n\n# See all available options\nbin/kaocha --test-help\n```\n\n## Third party projects\n\n* [kaocha-noyoda](https://github.com/magnars/kaocha-noyoda) Don't speak like\n Yoda, write `(is (= actual expected))` instead of `(is (= expected actual))`\n* [kaocha-test-ns-hook](https://github.com/philoskim/kaocha-test-ns-hook)\n A Kaocha plugin for the test-ns-hook feature in cloure.test.\n\n## Requirements\n\nKaocha requires Clojure 1.9 or later.\n\n\u003c!-- opencollective --\u003e\n## Lambda Island Open Source\n\nThank you! kaocha is made possible thanks to our generous backers. Please keep in mind the following:\n\n- adhere to the [LambdaIsland Clojure Style Guide](https://nextjournal.com/lambdaisland/clojure-style-guide)\n- write patches that solve a problem\n- start by stating the problem, then supply a minimal solution `*`\n- by contributing you agree to license your contributions as EPL 1.0\n- don't break the contract with downstream consumers `**`\n- don't break the tests\n\nWe would very much appreciate it if you also\n\n- update the CHANGELOG and README\n- add tests for new functionality\n\nWe recommend opening an issue first, before opening a pull request. That way we\ncan make sure we agree what the problem is, and discuss how best to solve it.\nThis is especially true if you add new dependencies, or significantly increase\nthe API surface. In cases like these we need to decide if these changes are in\nline with the project's goals.\n\n`*` This goes for features too, a feature needs to solve a problem. State the problem it solves first, only then move on to solving it.\n\n`**` Projects that have a version that starts with `0.` may still see breaking changes, although we also consider the level of community adoption. The more widespread a project is, the less likely we're willing to introduce breakage.
