Generally third party source is included through CMake using FetchContent, but some libraries require modification specific to this repository. |\n\n## Build Requirements\n\n### Dependencies\n\n1. C++17 and above\n1. CMake 3.19 or higher\n1. Ninja (if using the included build scripts)\n1. Boost version 1.81 or higher (**excluding** Boost 1.83, see note below)\n1. OpenSSL\n\n\u003e [!NOTE] \n\u003e Boost 1.83 is not supported due to an incompatibility in Boost.JSON. This issue appears to be resolved\n\u003e in versions prior and subsequent to 1.83.\n\nAdditional dependencies are fetched via CMake. For this reason, the SDK's unit tests are not built in shared library mode.\n\n## Building the SDK from Source\n\nTo configure the SDK's CMake project:\n\n```bash\n# Use 'make' as the build system.\ncmake -B build -S . -G\"Unix Makefiles\"\n```\n\nTo pass in config options defined in the table above, add them using `-D`:\n\n```bash\n# Use 'make' as the build system, build shared libs, and disable testing.\ncmake -B build -S . -G\"Unix Makefiles\" \\\n -DLD_BUILD_SHARED_LIBS=On \\\n -DBUILD_TESTING=Off ..\n```\n\nThe example uses `make`, but you might instead use [Ninja](https://ninja-build.org/),\nMSVC, [etc.](https://cmake.org/cmake/help/latest/manual/cmake-generators.7.html)\n\n### Building with CURL Networking\n\nBy default, the SDK uses Boost.Beast/Foxy for HTTP networking. To use CURL instead, enable the `LD_CURL_NETWORKING` option:\n\n```bash\ncmake -B build -S . -DLD_CURL_NETWORKING=ON\n```\n\n\u003e [!WARNING]\n\u003e CURL support for the **server-side SDK** is currently **experimental**. It is subject to change and may not be fully tested for production use.\n\nProxy support does not apply to the redis persistent store implementation for the server-side SDK.\n\n#### CURL Requirements by Platform\n\n**Linux/macOS:**\nInstall CURL development libraries via your package manager:\n```bash\n# Ubuntu/Debian\nsudo apt-get install libcurl4-openssl-dev\n\n# macOS\nbrew install curl\n```\n\n**Windows (MSVC):**\nCURL must be built from source using MSVC to ensure ABI compatibility. A helper script is provided:\n\n```powershell\n.\\scripts\\build-curl-windows.ps1 -Version \"8.11.1\" -InstallPrefix \"C:\\curl-install\"\n```\n\nThen configure the SDK with:\n```powershell\ncmake -B build -S . -DLD_CURL_NETWORKING=ON `\n -DCURL_ROOT=\"C:\\curl-install\" `\n -DCMAKE_PREFIX_PATH=\"C:\\curl-install\"\n```\n\nThe `build-curl-windows.ps1` script:\n- Downloads CURL source from curl.se\n- Builds static libraries with MSVC using CMake\n- Uses Windows Schannel for SSL (no OpenSSL dependency)\n- Installs to the specified prefix directory\n\n\u003e [!NOTE]\n\u003e Pre-built CURL binaries from curl.se (MinGW builds) are **not** compatible with MSVC and will cause linker errors.\n\n## Incorporating the SDK via `add_subdirectory`\n\nThe SDK can be incorporated into an existing application using CMake via `add_subdirectory.`.\n\n```cmake\n# Set SDK build options, for example:\nset(LD_BUILD_SHARED_LIBS On)\n\nadd_subdirectory(path-to-cpp-sdks-repo)\ntarget_link_libraries(your-app PRIVATE launchdarkly::client)\n# ... or launchdarkly::server\n````\n\n## Incorporating the SDK via `find_package`\n\n\u003e [!WARNING] \n\u003e Preliminary support for `find_package` is available.
