library provides a Consul-backed persistence mechanism (data store) for the [LaunchDarkly Java SDK](https://github.com/launchdarkly/java-server-sdk), replacing the default in-memory data store. The Consul API implementation it uses is [`com.orbitz.consul:consul-client`](https://github.com/rickfast/consul-client).\n\nThis version of the library requires at least version 6.0.0 of the LaunchDarkly Java SDK; for versions of the library to use with earlier SDK versions, see the changelog. The minimum Java version is 8.\n\nFor more information, see also: [Using Consul as a persistent feature store](https://docs.launchdarkly.com/sdk/features/storing-data/consul#java).\n\n## Quick setup\n\nThis assumes that you have already installed the LaunchDarkly Java SDK.\n\n1. Add this library to your project (updating the version number to use the [latest release](https://github.com/launchdarkly/java-server-sdk-consul/releases)):\n\n        \u003cdependency\u003e\n          \u003cgroupId\u003ecom.launchdarkly\u003c/groupId\u003e\n          \u003cartifactId\u003elaunchdarkly-java-server-sdk-consul-store\u003c/artifactId\u003e\n          \u003cversion\u003e3.0.0\u003c/version\u003e\n        \u003c/dependency\u003e\n\n2. The Consul client library should be pulled in automatically if you do not specify a dependency for it. Import the LaunchDarkly package and the package for this library:\n\n        import com.launchdarkly.sdk.server.*;\n        import com.launchdarkly.sdk.server.integrations.*;\n\n4. When configuring your SDK client, add the Consul data store as a `persistentDataStore`. You may specify any custom Consul options using the methods of `ConsulDataStoreBuilder`. For instance, to customize the Consul hostname:\n        \n        LDConfig config = new LDConfig.Builder()\n            .dataStore(\n                Components.persistentDataStore(\n                \tConsul.dataStore().host(\"my-consul-host\")\n                )\n            )\n            .build();\n\nBy default, the store will try to connect to a local Consul instance on port 8500. There are methods in `ConsulDataStoreBuilder` for changing the configuration options. Alternatively, if you already have a fully configured Consul client object, you can tell LaunchDarkly to use that:\n\n                Components.persistentDataStore(\n                \tConsul.dataStore().existingClient(myConsulClientInstance)\n                )\n\n## Caching behavior\n\nThe LaunchDarkly SDK has a standard caching mechanism for any persistent data store, to reduce database traffic. This is configured through the SDK's `PersistentDataStoreBuilder` class as described the SDK documentation. For instance, to specify a cache TTL of 5 minutes:\n\n        LDConfig config = new LDConfig.Builder()\n            .dataStore(\n                Components.persistentDataStore(\n                    Consul.dataStore()\n                ).cacheTime(Duration.ofMinutes(5))\n            )\n            .build();\n\n## About LaunchDarkly\n \n* LaunchDarkly is a continuous delivery platform that provides feature flags as a service and allows developers to iterate quickly and safely. We allow you to easily flag your features and manage them from the LaunchDarkly dashboard.  With LaunchDarkly, you can:\n    * Roll out a new feature to a subset of your users (like a group of users who opt-in to a beta tester group), gathering feedback and bug reports from real-world use cases.\n    * Gradually roll out a feature to an increasing percentage of users, and track the effect that the feature has on key metrics (for instance, how likely is a user to complete a purchase if they have feature A versus feature B?).\n    * Turn off a feature that you realize is causing performance problems in production, without needing to re-deploy, or even restart the application with a changed configuration file.\n    * Grant access to certain features based on user attributes, like payment plan (eg: users on the ‘gold’ plan get access to more features than users in the ‘silver’ plan).
