Logic Loop Arranger\n\n[![License: Loop Arranger` is an open-source Codex skill for creating accompaniment in Logic Pro with Apple Loops.\n\nIt is designed to act less like a generic assistant and more like a top-tier music producer:\n- it starts by narrowing taste\n- it translates vague creative language into production decisions\n- it helps shape arrangement, structure, and delivery targets\n- it prepares a Logic-friendly handoff instead of pretending Logic has a full external API\n\nThis repository is intentionally focused on accompaniment.\n\nIt does not target:\n- lyric writing\n- topline melody writing\n- vocal synthesis\n- deep plugin automation inside Logic Pro\n\n## Project status\n\nThis project is an early, focused OSS skill rather than a full DAW automation toolkit.\n\nThe stable surface today is:\n- the Codex skill definition in [SKILL.md](SKILL.md)\n- producer-intake and arrangement references\n- repeatable producer-brief generation through [scripts/create_producer_brief.py](scripts/create_producer_brief.py)\n- repeatable Logic handoff notes through [scripts/create_delivery_notes.py](scripts/create_delivery_notes.py)\n- stem package preparation guidance in [references/stem-package-checklist.md](references/stem-package-checklist.md)\n- documentation for realistic Logic Pro handoff boundaries\n\nThe next maturity target is to grow this into a small, well-tested skill package with more genre examples, packaging helpers, and maintainer-friendly issue triage.\n\n## Screenshot\n\n![Logic Loop Arranger workflow screenshot](./assets/logic-current.png)\n\n## Why this exists\n\nThere are already useful adjacent projects for:\n- Logic UI automation\n- Logic Scripter examples\n- MIDI scripting inside Logic\n\nWhat is still missing is a practical middle layer:\n\nan agent workflow that helps a creator move from:\n- vague taste\n- artist references\n- mood words\n- arrangement goals\n\nto:\n- a locked production brief\n- a coherent Apple Loops accompaniment direction\n- a clean handoff for Logic Pro\n\nThat is the gap this skill is meant to fill.\n\n## What the skill does\n\n- runs a producer-style creative intake\n- locks a compact production brief before building\n- guides Apple Loops selection and arrangement choices\n- helps structure intros, verses, pre-choruses, hooks, bridges, and outros\n- supports accompaniment packaging for WAV, stems, and Logic handoff\n- keeps Logic automation honest and realistic\n\n## Core idea\n\nThe skill should feel like a Grammy-level producer in the room:\n- decisive\n- taste-driven\n- collaborative\n- focused on narrowing direction before touching production\n\nThe interaction style matters as much as the technical steps.\n\n## Why not deep Logic automation?\n\nBecause Logic Pro is a great finishing environment, but not a strong external automation target.\n\nIn practice, what works reliably is:\n- preparing files outside Logic\n- opening projects or assets\n- importing audio or MIDI\n- handling simple prompts such as sample-rate dialogs\n- using Logic as the place where the creator listens, edits, arranges, and finishes\n\nWhat does not work reliably as a public promise:\n- full project authoring through a stable external API\n- deterministic chord-track population from outside the app\n- deep plugin routing or editing via UI scripting\n- robust end-to-end DAW control that behaves like a real SDK\n\nThat is why this skill is intentionally designed around:\n- creative intake\n- producer-style direction\n- accompaniment decisions\n- clean asset preparation\n- Logic-friendly handoff\n\nInstead of pretending that Logic offers a full agent-ready automation surface.\n\n## Who it is for\n\n- songwriters building a backing track before toplining\n- producers sketching Apple-Loops-based demos quickly\n- artists who want a guided production brief before arranging\n- Codex users who need a Logic-friendly accompaniment workflow\n\n## Repository layout\n\n```text\nlogic-loop-arranger-skill/\n├── .github/\n│ ├── ISSUE_TEMPLATE/\n│ ├── PULL_REQUEST_TEMPLATE.md\n│ └── workflows/\n├── SKILL.md\n├── \"$CODEX_HOME/skills\"\ncp -R logic-loop-arranger-skill \"$CODEX_HOME/skills/\"\n```\n\nThen trigger it with requests about:\n- creating a Logic Pro accompaniment\n- arranging with Apple Loops\n- extending or refining a backing track\n- preparing stems and Logic-ready delivery assets\n\n## Quick start\n\nExamples of the kinds of prompts this skill should handle well:\n\n- “Help me build a slow R\u0026B accompaniment in Logic with Apple Loops.”\n- “I want a late-night pop/R\u0026B backing track, more SZA than glossy radio.”\n- “Turn this vague mood into a producer brief before we arrange anything.”\n- “Expand this Apple Loops beat into a full song structure and prep stems for Logic.”\n\nFor sample creative briefs, see [examples/example-briefs.md](examples/example-briefs.md).\n\n## Producer brief helper\n\nThe repository includes a small standard-library Python helper for creating a reusable production brief:\n\n```bash\npython3 scripts/create_producer_brief.py \\\n --title \"Night Drive Demo\" \\\n --style \"contemporary alt-R\u0026B accompaniment\" \\\n --mood \"late-night, intimate, unresolved\" \\\n --references \"SZA, Brent Faiyaz\" \\\n --tempo \"92-98 BPM\" \\\n --key \"D minor\" \\\n --harmony \"moody minor loop with restrained lift\" \\\n --palette \"soft drums, warm keys, sub bass, sparse texture\" \\\n --finish \"songwriting demo\" \\\n --deliverable \"stereo WAV, stems, and Logic import notes\" \\\n --out producer-brief.txt\n```\n\n## Logic delivery notes helper\n\nUse the delivery notes helper when you need a Logic-friendly handoff note for stems, section timing, and import boundaries:\n\n```bash\npython3 scripts/create_delivery_notes.py \\\n --title \"Night Drive Demo\" \\\n --tempo \"92-98 BPM\" \\\n --key \"D minor\" \\\n --section \"Intro: 0:00-0:08, keys and texture only\" \\\n --section \"Hook: 0:33-0:49, wider drums and bass commitment\" \\\n --stem \"Night Drive Demo - Drums.wav\" \\\n --stem \"Night Drive Demo - Bass.wav\" \\\n --stem \"Night Drive Demo - Music.wav\" \\\n --out logic-delivery-notes.md\n```\n\n## Development checks\n\nRun the local checks before opening a pull request:\n\n```bash\npython3 -m compileall scripts tests\npython3 -m unittest discover -s tests\n```\n\n## Maintainer docs\n\nThe repository includes the standard OSS project docs expected by contributors and downstream users:\n\n- [CONTRIBUTING.md](CONTRIBUTING.md)\n- [CODE_OF_CONDUCT.md](CODE_OF_CONDUCT.md)\n- [SECURITY.md](SECURITY.md)\n- [CHANGELOG.md](CHANGELOG.md)\n-
