create an open-source firmware library for\nvarious ARM Cortex-M microcontrollers.\n\nFor more information visit http://libopencm3.org\n\nThe examples are meant as starting points for different subsystems on multitude\nof platforms. If you're just looking to test your build environment and hardware,\nthe [libopencm3-miniblink](https://github.com/libopencm3/libopencm3-miniblink) \nmay be more useful, as it covers _many_ more boards, but it is much more limited.\n\nFeel free to add new examples and send them to us either via the mailinglist or\npreferably via a github pull request.\n\n## Usage\n\nYou _must_ run \"make\" in the top level directory first.  This builds the\nlibrary and all examples.  If you're simply hacking on a single example after\nthat, you can type \"make clean; make\" in any of the individual project\ndirectories later.\n\nFor more verbose output, to see compiler command lines, use \"make V=1\"\nFor insanity levels of verboseness, use \"make V=99\"\n\nThe makefiles are generally useable for your own projects with\nonly minimal changes for the libopencm3 install path (See Reuse)\n\n## Make Flash Target\n\nPlease note, the \"make flash\" target is complicated and not always self-consistent.  Please see: https://github.com/libopencm3/libopencm3-examples/issues/34\n\nFor flashing the 'miniblink' example (after you built libopencm3 and the\nexamples by typing 'make' at the top-level directory) onto the Olimex\nSTM32-H103 eval board (ST STM32F1 series microcontroller), you can execute:\n\n    cd examples/stm32/f1/stm32-h103/miniblink\n    make flash V=1\n\nThe Makefiles of the examples are configured to use a certain OpenOCD\nflash programmer, you might need to change some of the variables in the\nMakefile if you use a different one.\n\nTo program via a Black Magic Probe, simply provide the serial port, eg:\n\n    cd examples/stm32/f1/stm32-h103/miniblink\n    make flash BMP_PORT=/dev/ttyACM0\n\nTo program via texane/stlink (st-flash utility), use the special target:\n\n    cd examples/stm32/f1/stm32vl-discovery/miniblink\n    make miniblink.stlink-flash\n\nIf you rather use GDB to connect to the st-util you can provide the STLINK\\_PORT\nto the flash target.\n\n    cd examples/stm32/f1/stm32vl-discovery/miniblink\n    make flash STLINK_PORT=:4242\n\n## Flashing Manually\nYou can also flash manually. Using a miriad of different tools depending on\nyour setup. Here are a few examples.\n\n### OpenOCD\n\n    openocd -f interface/jtagkey-tiny.cfg -f target/stm32f1x.cfg\n    telnet localhost 4444\n    reset halt\n    flash write_image erase foobar.hex\n    reset\n\nReplace the \"jtagkey-tiny.cfg\" with whatever JTAG device you are using, and/or\nreplace \"stm32f1x.cfg\" with your respective config file. Replace \"foobar.hex\"\nwith the file name of the image you want to flash.\n\n### Black Magic Probe\n\n    cd examples/stm32/f1/stm32vl-discovery/miniblink\n    arm-none-eabi-gdb miniblink.elf\n    target extended_remote /dev/ttyACM0\n    monitor swdp_scan\n    attach 1\n    load\n    run\n\nTo exit the gdb session type `\u003cCtrl\u003e-C` and `\u003cCtrl\u003e-D`.
