Needs and Contributions with open scope.\n\nDetailed explanations of what Lince is, how to run it and use it's ecosystem can be found in the [Dark Mode Documentation](https://raw.githubusercontent.com/lince-social/lince/dev/documentation/lince-documentation-dark.pdf)/[Light Mode Documentation](https://raw.githubusercontent.com/lince-social/lince/dev/documentation/lince-documentation-light.pdf).\n\nCheck the website [lince.social](https://lince.social) for more.\n\n# Disclaimer\n\nLince is a non-profit project and crowdfunding is the source of development compensation:\n\n[GitHub Sponsors](https://github.com/sponsors/lince-social) | [Patreon](https://www.patreon.com/lince_social) | [Apoia.se](https://www.apoia.se/lince)\n\nLince tries to facilitate and automate the connection between people and resources, by transforming needs and contributions into data.\nThe gains and losses related to the interaction, such as transportation, production and services themselves, remain the responsibility\nand risk of the parties involved.\n\n# Contributions\n\nTo contribute, check the [CONTRIBUTING.md](CONTRIBUTING.md).\n\n# License\n\nCheck the MIT [License](LICENSE)\n\n# Ways to install\n\nNote that the `dev` branch is always further ahead, sometimes by a lot. But it is more unstable.\n\nThe default published binary and container target the HTTP frontend with Karma enabled. The RustFS object storage has it's settings in the configuration table, seeded when Lince starts. If your way of installing sets the bucket you can use it with `rustfsadmin` as initial 'username and password'.\n\n### 1. One-line installer\n\nThe hosted installer is meant for macOS and glibc-based Linux systems. It installs to `~/.local/bin` by default and does not configure `systemd` automatically.\n\n```bash\ncurl -fsSL https://lince.social/install.sh | bash\n```\n\nInside this repo, the canonical script lives at `scripts/install/install.sh`:\n\n```bash\n./scripts/install/install.sh\n```\n\nTo pin a specific release or install somewhere else:\n\n```bash\ncurl -fsSL https://lince.social/install.sh | bash -s -- --version v0.6.1\ncurl -fsSL https://lince.social/install.sh | bash -s -- --bin-dir /usr/local/bin --force\n```\n\n### 2. Releases\n\nCheck the [releases](https://github.com/lince-social/lince/releases) and download the asset for your operating system. The rolling main-branch binaries live under the latest `rolling-*` release.\n\n```bash\n./lince --help\n./lince --listen-addr 0.0.0.0:6174\n```\n\n### 3. Docker\n\nThe published container image is public at `ghcr.io/lince-social/lince`. The container keeps its state under `/var/lib/lince` and is meant to be run with a persistent volume.\n\n```bash\n# For new Ubuntu VPS you can first run\nsudo apt-get update\nsudo apt-get install -y docker.io\nsudo systemctl enable --now docker\n\n# To keep Lince running as a background service and bring it back after reboot, run it with `-d` and `--restart unless-stopped`:\ndocker run -d \\\n  --name lince \\\n  --restart unless-stopped \\\n  -p 6174:6174 \\\n  -v lince-data:/var/lib/lince \\\n  ghcr.io/lince-social/lince:rolling\n```\n\nThe location of Lince's configuration directory depends on your operating system:\n\n| Platform | Value                                 | Example                                        |\n| -------- | ------------------------------------- | ---------------------------------------------- |\n| Linux    | `$XDG_CONFIG_HOME` or `$HOME`/.config | /home/alice/.config/lince                      |\n| macOS    | `$HOME`/Library/Application Support   | /Users/Alice/Library/Application Support/lince |\n| Windows  | `{FOLDERID_RoamingAppData}`           | C:\\Users\\Alice\\AppData\\Roaming\\lince           |\n\nThe directory and lince.toml is created automatically on first start and gives you a random auth secret. To enable auth you will need to add an `enable = true`, example:\n\n```bash\n[auth]\nsecret = \"75b4c1a538af41a79b19ac17cbe03829\"\nenabled = true\n```\n\nWhen auth is enabled, Lince will require an admin user to exist. If none exists yet, run Lince once in a terminal so it can prompt you to create the initial admin user.\n\nAccessing it from the outside world:\n\n```bash\n# If your VPS uses `ufw`, open the HTTP port:\nsudo ufw allow 6174/tcp\n\n# If you have a domain, you can use Caddy to setup a reverse proxy and make requests with HTTPS\nsudo apt install -y caddy\nsudo mkdir -p /etc/caddy\ncat \u003c\u003cEOF | sudo tee /etc/caddy/Caddyfile\nfoo.com {\n    reverse_proxy 127.0.0.1:6174\n}\nEOF\nsudo ufw allow 80\nsudo ufw allow 443\nsudo systemctl enable --now caddy\n```\n\nThis is the recommended container install path for always-on usage on a VPS or personal machine. `podman run` can use the same image and flags.\n\n### 4. Cargo install\n\nIf you don't have Cargo installed, you can install it with #link(\"https://www.rust-lang.org/tools/install\")[Rustup].\nIt comes with Rust and its toolchain. If `cargo` isn’t in your `PATH`, add it to your shell configuration (`~/.bashrc` or `~/.zshrc`)\nso you don’t have to type the full path every time (i.e., `~/.cargo/bin/{program}`). Run this in your terminal:\n\n```bash\necho 'export PATH=\"$HOME/.cargo/bin:$PATH\"' \u003e\u003e ~/.bashrc\necho 'export PATH=\"$HOME/.cargo/bin:$PATH\"' \u003e\u003e ~/.zshrc\n```\n\n```bash\ncargo install --locked lince\nlince\n```\n\nSupported feature shapes for `cargo install`:\n\n- Default (and recommended) HTTP + Karma: `cargo install --locked lince`\n- HTTP only: `cargo install --locked lince --no-default-features --features \"http\"`\n- Karma only: `cargo install --locked lince --no-default-features --features \"karma\"`\n- TUI only: `cargo install --locked lince --no-default-features --features \"tui\"`\n- TUI + Karma: `cargo install --locked lince --no-default-features --features \"karma,tui\"`\n- GUI only: `cargo install --locked lince --no-default-features --features \"gui\"`\n- GUI + Karma: `cargo install --locked lince --no-default-features --features \"karma,gui\"`\n\nRules:\n\n- `http`, `tui`, and `gui` are mutually exclusive frontend features\n- `karma` can be combined with one frontend, or used on its own\n\n### 5. Compiling yourself\n\n\u003e Beware! Here be dragons (bugs).\n\nFor those that want to compile the latest and have [cargo](https://www.rust-lang.org/tools/install) installed, run:\n\n```bash\ncargo run\n```\n\nFor the standalone desktop webview build, see [Desktop Builds](docs/desktop.md). It covers NixOS, generic Linux prerequisites, and Tauri release artifacts.\n\nTo run the trail browser regression mode locally, use `./scripts/other/browser-watch-tests.sh --jobs 10` to execute all browser tests in headed Chromium with `browser-watch`; if you want the raw command, use `cargo test -p lince-web --features browser-watch browser_ -- --nocapture --test-threads=10`.\n\n### Keeping it running\n\nThe installer only installs the binary. If you want Lince to stay up after boot, use your own process supervisor.\n\n- On Linux with `systemd`, use [`scripts/install/install-system-service.sh`](scripts/install/install-system-service.sh).\n- With Docker or Podman, use the container command above with `--restart unless-stopped`.\n\n### Extra\n\nFor maintainers, the release flow is:\n\n```bash\nmise release\nmise publish-crates\n```\n","project_url":"https://awesome.ecosyste.ms/api/v1/projects/github.com%2Flince-social%2Flince","html_url":"https://awesome.ecosyste.ms/projects/github.com%2Flince-social%2Flince","lists_url":"https://awesome.ecosyste.ms/api/v1/projects/github.com%2Flince-social%2Flince/lists"}
