The young man in the photo, let's call him _Watathan_,\ncarries the succint ability to add significant _watness_ to an otherwise\nnot-particularly-extraordinary photo.\n\nI needed a demo for the talk, but most of all, I wanted to examine whether the unique\nability of young _Watathan_ would translate to other photos equally well.\nThanks to Serverless, I am happy to report that it does!\n\nBuilt by Logan Raarup ([http://gokyo.dk](http://gokyo.dk)).\n\n\n# How does it look?\n\n![Screenshot](https://raw.githubusercontent.com/logandk/instawat/master/images/screenshot.jpg)\n\n# How does it work?\n\nIn order to make full use of Serverless and achieve the scalability that this service\nobviously needs, it is divided into not one but two asynchronous processing steps:\n\n![Steps](https://raw.githubusercontent.com/logandk/instawat/master/images/steps.png)\n\n## PART 1: APP\n\nThe UI is built as a simple Flask web application that is backed by DynamoDB.\n\n## PART 2: DOWNLOADER\n\nTriggered by DynamoDB, this event handler downloads the original images onto S3.\n\n## PART 3: THE WATIFIER\n\nOnce the original is on S3, an S3 notification triggers **THE WATIFIER**.
