It's currently very much in a prototype stage, and not recommended over [Wallpaper Engine KDE Plugin](https://github.com/catsout/wallpaper-engine-kde-plugin) for actual use.\n\n## Comparison to Wallpaper Engine KDE Plugin\n\nPros:\n\n- Supports nearly all effects from Wallpaper Engine, except for media data.\n- Better compatibility with many effects.\n\nCons:\n\n- Less configuration options.\n- Runs as a separate process and window, meaning it obscures other windows. KWin rules can work around it to some degree, but it's not perfect.\n- The cursor disappears when hovering over the wallpaper.\n- Certain effects (not sure which) seem to flicker aggressively at times.\n\n## Known issues\n\n- Application was designed at 4k, experience may vary at other resolutions.\n- Wayland display scaling is not supported.\n\n## Planned features\n\n- Support for wallpaper settings (will be stored as preset).\n- Search/Filtering based on tags/type.\n- Potential support for media data (?)\n\n## Usage\n\nOn first launch, the application will show a menu. Any subsequent launches, it will apply the last selected wallpapers.    \nTo open the menu again, right-click the tray icon and select \"Open Wallpaper Engine\".    \nTo remove a wallpaper, right-click the tray icon and select \"Remove Wallpaper\" or \"Remove from Display \\\u003cX\u003e\".\n\n\n## Installation\n\n### Dependencies\n\nThis program has the following dependencies:\n\n- `kscreen` for getting display information.\n- `wine` for running Wallpaper Engine.\n\n### Setting up KWin rules\n\nYou'll want to add the following KWin rules:\n\n---\n\nDescription: `Wallpaper Engine Windows`    \nWindow class: `Regular Expression`, `wallpaper(64|32).exe`    \nMatch whole window class: `Yes`    \nWindow types: `All selected`    \n\nKeep below other windows: `Force`, `Yes`    \nSkip taskbar: `Force`, `Yes`    \nSkip pager: `Force`, `Yes`    \nSkip switcher: `Force`, `Yes`    \n\nNo titlebar and frame: `Force`, `Yes`    \nFocus stealing prevention: `Force`, `Extreme`    \nFocus protection: `Force`, `Extreme`    \nAccept focus: `Force`, `No`    \nCloseable: `Force`, `No`    \nLayer: `Force`, `Desktop`\n\n---\n\n(repeat this for each display, X starts at 1)\n\nDescription: `Wallpaper Engine Display \u003cX\u003e`    \nWindow class: `Regular Expression`, `wallpaper(64|32).exe`    \nMatch whole window class: `Yes`    \nWindow types: `All selected`    \nWindow title: `Exact match`, `Wallpaper Engine \u003cX\u003e`\n\nPosition: `Force`, `0,0`  (set to the top-left corner of the display, check the Display \u0026 Monitor tab)\n\n---\n\n### Setting up Wallpaper Engine\n\nMake sure to install [Wallpaper Engine](https://store.steampowered.com/app/431960/Wallpaper_Engine/) on Steam.    \nThen, run `wine /path/to/steam/steamapps/common/wallpaper_engine/installer.exe`. This will set up the wallpaper32/64 binaries used by this application.    \nFinally, download wallpapers from the Steam Workshop.
