Clone the Repository\n\nFirst, clone the repository from GitHub:\n```sh\ngit clone https://github.com/muhammad-fiaz/cp-dataset-gui.git\ncd cp-dataset-gui\n```\n\n### Prerequisites\n\n- Python 3.12 or higher\n- [pip](https://pip.pypa.io/en/stable/installation/)\n- *(Optional but recommended for speed)* [uv](https://github.com/astral-sh/uv) (a fast Python package installer and resolver)\n\n### Install dependencies with pip\n\n```sh\npip install -r requirements.txt\n```\nOr, if using a PEP 621-compliant build system:\n\n```sh\npip install .\n```\n\n### Install dependencies with uv (recommended for speed)\n\nFirst, install `uv` if you don't have it:\n```sh\npip install uv\n```\nOr use Homebrew (on macOS/Linux):\n```sh\nbrew install uv\n```\n\nThen, install dependencies:\n```sh\nuv pip install -r requirements.txt\n```\nOr, for editable/development mode:\n```sh\nuv pip install -e .[dev]\n```\n\n## Usage\n\nRun the app from the root directory:\n\n```sh\npython main.py\n```\n\n## Building Standalone Executables\n\nYou can build a standalone executable for your platform (Windows, Linux, or macOS) with one click using the provided build script. The executable will include all required Python dependencies and the `assets` folder (including icons/images).\n\n### Instructions\n\n1. **Ensure your `assets` folder (with all images/icons) and `main.py` are present in the project root.**\n2. **Place your app icon at `assets/images/logo.ico` (for Windows) or `assets/images/logo.icns` (for macOS).**\n3. **Run the build script for your platform:**\n\n    ```sh\n    python build.py\n    ```\n\n    - The script will:\n        - Clean previous builds\n        - Install PyInstaller if not already installed\n        - Bundle all dependencies and assets into a single executable\n        - Set your application icon (if present)\n        - Output the final executable in the `dist/` folder\n\n4. **Note:**  \n    - You must run the build on the OS you want to target (Windows for `.exe`, Linux for Linux binary, macOS for `.app`/binary).\n    - Cross-compiling is not supported by PyInstaller.\n\n#### Example\n\nFor Windows:\n```sh\npython build.py\n```\nYour standalone `.exe` will be in the `dist/` folder.\n\nFor Linux or macOS:\n```sh\npython build.py\n```\nYour platform-specific binary will be in the `dist/` folder.\n\n## Development\n\n### Install development dependencies\n\nWith pip:\n```sh\npip install .[dev]\n```\nWith uv:\n```sh\nuv pip install -e .[dev]\n```\n\n### Linting\n\n```sh\nruff .\n```\n\n### Project Structure\n\n```\ncp-dataset-gui/\n├── main.py\n├── cp_dataset.db\n├── assets/\n│   └── images/\n│       ├── logo.png\n│       ├── logo.ico\n│       └── logo_rounded.png\n├── pyproject.toml\n├── requirements.txt\n├── build.py\n├── README.md\n└── LICENSE\n```\n\n## Contributing\n\nContributions are welcome!
