notes. The notes are kept on\nthe file system under a certain folder `NOTELOG_HOME`. You can control this location\nvia corresponding environment variable.\nDefault location for your notes is `$HOME/notes/personal`.\n\nNotelog seamlessly integrates with your favorite text editor(tested with VIM).\n\nVim plugin is [available](vim/README.md)\n\n## Installation\n```bash\nmake install\n```\n\n## Examples and features\n\n```bash\n# Opens \"my-note\" in editor. Creates a note if the note does not exist\n$ notelog my-note\n\n# Instant note: adds a line \"foo bar\" to \"my-note\" directly from command line\n$ notelog my-note foo bar\n\n# Archive a note: the note becomes unavailable in this collection\n# for direct edits, also is not visible for search by default\n$ notelog archive my-note\n\n# Lists all notes in collection sorted by last modified date\n$ notelog list --by-date\n\n# Prints help\n$ notelog help\n```\n\n## Advanced features\n\n### Search\n\nNotelog supports search over notes collection.\n\n```bash\n# Search all lines that contain \"foo\" over all notes\n$ notelog search --interactive foo\n1. noteA:1:foo bar\n2. noteB:10:hello foo\n\n# Open the second search result note from previous search in editor\n$ notelog search-browse 2\n```\n\n### Integrate with git\n\nSince your notes are just a bunch of text files in a subtree on a file system,\nyou can add your note collection to a git repo and have them version controlled.\nNotelog has a couple of commands to simplify this task though currently this functionality is pretty basic.\n\n```bash\n# Initialize a repo in the current notes collection\n$ notelog init-repo\n\n# Synchronize the repo with origin: add all the changes, commit, update from the origin and push\n$ notelog sync\n```\n\n**Please note that the \"origin\" remote is not automatically added**.\nAs of now you have to add it manually using standard `git remote add ...`\n\n## Roadmap\n- [ ] conflict-free instant note taking from commandline:\n        when a note is open in editor and one tries to add an instant note, editor could override amended note\n- [ ] search: consider indexing full text search solutions, e.g. https://github.com/blevesearch/bleve\n- [ ] archive: a note can:\n   - [x] be put into archive, so it will not stay in the main note list\n         Current behavior: no search in the archive.
