Used as the base\nof new projects. The `User` model provides:\n\n*   email address instead of \"username\" as the primary field\n    \n    Signing up with your email address is a much more common pattern.\n\n*   (\"Full Name\", \"Familiar Name\") instead of (\"First Name\", \"Last Name\")\n\n    Names are more complex than first/last. Instead of trying to force users\n    to approximate their name in a split form field, ask for it in full and\n    allow them to provide a familiar name if you want to use `get_short_name`.\n\n    For example, my name is \"Mark Norman Francis\", but I like to be addressed\n    as \"Norm\". There is no way the first/last pattern can capture this.\n\n    As the [UK Government Service Design Manual says][sdm]: \"Be sensitive to\n    different cultural conventions when asking for people’s names. If you can,\n    use a single name field.\"\n\n[sdm]: https://www.gov.uk/service-manual/user-centred-design/resources/patterns/names.html\n","project_url":"https://awesome.ecosyste.ms/api/v1/projects/github.com%2Fnorm%2Fdjango-custom-user","html_url":"https://awesome.ecosyste.ms/projects/github.com%2Fnorm%2Fdjango-custom-user","lists_url":"https://awesome.ecosyste.ms/api/v1/projects/github.com%2Fnorm%2Fdjango-custom-user/lists"}
