The input, calibration and output data can be\nspecified as FITS files or as ``astropy.io.fits`` objects in memory.\n\nThe ESO `Common Pipeline Library \u003chttp://www.eso.org/sci/software/cpl/\u003e`_\n(CPL) comprises a set of ISO-C libraries that provide a comprehensive,\nefficient and robust software toolkit. It forms a basis for the creation of\nautomated astronomical data-reduction tasks. One of the features provided by\nthe CPL is the ability to create data-reduction algorithms that run as plugins\n(dynamic libraries).
