It features a complete pipeline capable processing data from alignment,\nreconstruction, and segmentation through to displaying, visualizing, and\ninteracting with 3D reconstructions of tomographic data. Many of the data\noperators are available as editable Python scripts that can be modified in\nthe interface to experiment with different techniques. The pipeline can be\nsaved to disk, and a number of common file formats are supported for\nimporting and exporting data.\n\n![tomviz_screenshot]\n\nThe Tomviz project was founded by [Marcus D. Hanwell][Hanwell] and\n[Utkarsh Ayachit][Ayachit] at [Kitware][Kitware], [David A.\nMuller][Muller] ([Cornell University][Cornell]), and\n[Robert Hovden][Hovden] ([University of Michigan][Michigan]),\nfunded by DOE Office of Science contract DE-SC0011385.\n\nInstalling\n----------\n\u003cimg align=\"right\" src=\"https://github.com/OpenChemistry/tomviz/blob/master/docs/images/animation_nponcarbon1_small.gif\"\u003e\n\nWe recommend downloading the current [stable release](../../releases),\nbut also provide nightly binaries built by our [dashboards][Dashboard] for\nWindows, macOS, and Linux.\n\n__Windows__: Follow the installation instructions, double-click on the Tomviz\nicon to launch the application. __macOS__: After downloading the package\ndouble-click to begin installation. Drag the Tomviz icon into your Applications\ndirectory – or anywhere else you would like to store it. Double-click on the\nicon to open it, nightly builds will require right-clicking and selecting open.\n__Linux__: A binary (tar.gz) is provided, or it can be built from source. See\n[instructions for building](BUILDING.md) found in the BUILDING.md document.\n\nA Quick Tutorial\n----------\n 1. Open a sample dataset by clicking “Sample Menu \u003e Reconstruction ” at the\n top menubar.\n 2. Create a 3D volumetric visualization by clicking “Visualization \u003e Volume”\n at the top menubar.\n 3. Interact with your volume in the center panel titled “RenderView”.\n\nUser Guide\n----------\nStart by watching this short video to [see Tomviz in action][tomviz_in_action].\n\nAlso [Tomviz user guide](/docs/TomvizBasicUserGuide.pdf) has more detailed\ninformation to get started.\n\n\nCite Tomviz\n------------------------\nWhen using tomviz in your research, please cite:\n\n[Real-time 3D analysis during electron tomography using tomviz, J.
