Previously, this\nrepo used to contain more of the subsystem, but all of that code has\nbeen moved to the main OpenCog repo:\n\nhttps://github.com/opencog/opencog/tree/master/opencog/eva\n\nWhat is left here is an assortment of ROS nodes that subscribe\nto ROS visual and audio sensory inputs, and forward these to the\nOpenCog spactime server (performing the needed format conversion).\n\nDesign goals\n------------\nProvide a convenient, flexible interface between ROS and the OpenCog\nservers.\n\nCurrent Architecture and Design\n-------------------------------\nAt this time, the code here provides a perception subsystem:\n\n * Several ROS nodes that forward visual and sound data to the\n   OpenCog spacetime server. This includes 3D locations of visible\n   faces, the names of any recognized faces (as recognized by some\n   external software), the direction from which sounds are coming\n   from, and audio-power samples.\n\n   (This needs to be replaced by a (much) better visual system.)\n\nSome things it currently doesn't do, but should:\n\n * Integrate superior face-tracking and face recognition tools.\n   Right now, the face tracker is recognizes known faces only with\n   difficulty.\n\n * Additional sensory systems and sensory inputs.  A perception\n   synthesizer to coordinate all sensory input. High priority:\n\n  ++ Audio power envelope (half-done, see `sensors/audio_power.py`),\n     fundamental frequency (of voice), rising/falling tone.\n     Background audio power. Length of silent pauses.  Detection\n     of applause, laughter, loud voices in the background, loud\n     bangs.\n\n  ++ Video-chaos: Is it light or dark? Is there lots of random\n     motion in the visual field, or are things visually settled?\n\nStatus\n------\nIt works and is in regular (daily) use (2015, 2016, 2017...).\n\nSetup\n-------\nInitial setup, only needed to be run once.\n```\nbash scripts/setup.sh\n```\n\nInstall\n-------\nRun the following commands.\n```\nbash scripts/install.sh\n```\n\nRunning\n-------\nRun the following commands.\n```\nbash scripts/run.sh \u003crobot-name\u003e\n```\n\u003crobot-name\u003e could be `han` or `sophia10`\n\nTODO\n----\n * Need major overhaul of the time-space server API's. Need to be able\n   to query them with pattern matcher\n * Need to create time-query atoms\n * Need to place sound-source direction into the space-server. (i.e. currently\n   in time-map.scm map-sound)\n","project_url":"https://awesome.ecosyste.ms/api/v1/projects/github.com%2Fopencog%2Fros-behavior-scripting","html_url":"https://awesome.ecosyste.ms/projects/github.com%2Fopencog%2Fros-behavior-scripting","lists_url":"https://awesome.ecosyste.ms/api/v1/projects/github.com%2Fopencog%2Fros-behavior-scripting/lists"}
