This wish is simply achieved with \u003e\n\t\t:AlignCtrl lr\n\t\t:1,4Align =\n\u003c\tbecause the justification commands are considered to be \"cylic\"; ie.\n\tlr is the same as lrlrlrlrlrlrlr...\n\n\tThere's a lot more discussed under |alignctrl|; hopefully the examples\n\tthere will help, too.\n\n\nALIGNMENT COMMANDS\t\t\t*align-command* *align-commands* {{{2\n\n        The \u003cAlign.vim\u003e script includes two primary commands and two\n\tminor commands:\n\n\t  AlignCtrl : this command/function sets up alignment options\n\t              which persist until changed for later Align calls.\n\t\t      It controls such things as: how to specify field\n\t\t      separators, initial white space, padding about\n\t\t      separators, left/right/center justification, etc. \u003e\n\t\t\tex.  AlignCtrl wp0P1\n                             Interpretation: during subsequent alignment\n\t\t\t     operations, preserve each line's initial\n\t\t\t     whitespace.  Use no padding before separators\n\t\t\t     but provide one padding space after separators.\n\u003c\n\t  Align     : this command/function operates on the range given it to\n\t\t      align text based on one or more separator patterns.  The\n\t\t      patterns may be provided via AlignCtrl or via Align\n\t\t      itself. \u003e\n\n\t\t\tex. :%Align ,\n\t\t\t    Interpretation: align all commas over the entire\n\t\t\t    file.\n\u003c\t\t      The :Align! format permits alignment control commands\n\t\t      to precede the alignment patterns. \u003e\n\t\t\tex. :%Align! p2P2 =\n\u003c\t\t      This will align all \"=\" in the file with two padding\n\t\t      spaces on both sides of each \"=\" sign.\n\n\t\t      NOTE ON USING PATTERNS WITH ALIGN:~\n\t\t      Align and AlignCtrl use |\u003cq-args\u003e| to obtain their\n\t\t      input patterns and they use an internal function to\n\t\t      split arguments at whitespace unless inside \"...\"s.\n\t\t      One may escape characters inside a double-quote string\n\t\t      by preceding such characters with a backslash.\n\n\t  AlignPush : this command/function pushes the current AlignCtrl\n\t              state onto an internal stack. \u003e\n\t\t\tex. :AlignPush\n\t\t\t    Interpretation: save the current AlignCtrl\n\t\t\t    settings, whatever they may be.  They'll\n\t\t\t    also remain as the current settings until\n\t\t\t    AlignCtrl is used to change them.\n\u003c\n\t  AlignPop  : this command/function pops the current AlignCtrl\n\t              state from an internal stack. \u003e\n\t\t\tex. :AlignPop\n\t\t\t    Interpretation: presumably AlignPush was\n\t\t\t    used (at least once) previously; this command\n\t\t\t    restores the AlignCtrl settings when AlignPush\n\t\t\t    was last used.\n\u003c\t              Also see |alignctrl-m| for a way to automatically do\n\t              an AlignPop after an Align (primarily this is for maps).\n\nALIGNMENT OPTIONS\t\t\t*align-option* *align-options* {{{2\n    *align-utf8* *align-utf* *align-codepoint* *align-strlen* *align-multibyte*\n\n\tFor those of you who are using 2-byte (or more) characters such as are\n\tavailable with utf-8, Align now provides a special option which you\n\tmay choose based upon your needs:\n\n\tUse Built-in strlen() ~\n\u003e\n\t\t\tlet g:Align_xstrlen= 0\n\n\u003c       This is the fastest method, but it doesn't handle multibyte characters\n\twell.  It is the default for:\n\n\t  enc=latin1\n\t  vim compiled without multi-byte support\n\t  $LANG is en_US.UTF-8 (assuming USA english)\n\n\tNumber of codepoints (Latin a + combining circumflex is two codepoints)~\n\u003e\n\t\t\tlet g:Align_xstrlen= 1              (default)\n\u003c\n\tNumber of spacing codepoints (Latin a + combining circumflex is one~\n\tspacing codepoint; a hard tab is one; wide and narrow CJK are one~\n\teach; etc.)~\n\u003e\n\t\t\tlet g:Align_xstrlen= 2\n\u003c\n\tVirtual length (counting, for instance, tabs as anything between 1 and~\n\t'tabstop', wide CJK as 2 rather than 1, Arabic alif as zero when~\n\timmediately preceded by lam, one otherwise, etc.)~\n\u003e\n\t\t\tlet g:Align_xstrlen= 3\n\u003c\n\tBy putting one of these settings into your \u003c.vimrc\u003e, Align will use an\n\tinternal (interpreted) function to determine a string's length instead\n\tof the Vim's built-in |strlen()| function.  Since the function is\n\tinterpreted, Align will run a bit slower but will handle such strings\n\tcorrectly.  The last setting (g:Align_xstrlen= 3) probably will run\n\tthe slowest but be the most accurate.  (thanks to Tony Mechelynck for\n\tthese)\n\n\nALIGNMENT CONTROL\t\t\t\t*alignctrl* *align-control* {{{2\n\n\tThis command doesn't do the alignment operation itself; instead, it\n\tcontrols subsequent alignment operation(s).\n\n\tThe first argument to AlignCtrl is a string which may contain one or\n\tmore alignment control settings.  Most of the settings are specified\n\tby single letters; the exceptions are the p# and P# commands which\n\tinterpret a digit following the p or P as specifying padding about the\n\tseparator.\n\n\tThe typical text line is considered to be composed of two or more\n\tfields separated by one or more separator pattern(s): \u003e\n\n\t\tws field ws separator ws field ws separator ...\n\u003c\n\twhere \"ws\" stands for \"white space\" such as blanks and/or tabs.\n\n\t\n\tSEPARATORS\t\t\t\t*alignctrl-separators* {{{3\n\n\tAs a result, separators may not have white space (tabs or blanks) on\n\ttheir outsides (ie.  \":  :\" is fine as a separator, but \" :: \" is\n\tnot).  Usually such separators are not needed, although a map has been\n\tprovided which works around this limitation and aligns on whitespace\n\t(see |alignmap-tsp|).\n\n\tHowever, if you really need to have separators with leading or\n\ttrailing whitespace, consider handling them by performing a substitute\n\tfirst (ie. s/  ::  /@/g), do the alignment on the temporary pattern\n\t(ie. @), and then perform a substitute to revert the separators back\n\tto their desired condition (ie. s/@/  ::  /g).\n\n\tThe Align#Align() function will first convert tabs over the region into\n\tspaces and then apply alignment control.  Except for initial white\n\tspace, white space surrounding the fields is ignored.
