This\nrepository contains my configs \u0026 tweaks that you can use on\nFirefox-based browsers. I think Mozilla should ship with these\ntweaks pre-configured.\n\n## Like LibreWolf?\n\nVanilla Firefox can be tweaked to do everything that [LibreWolf](https://librewolf.net/)\nalready does. You don't need to use LibreWolf if you use my ``user.js`` file.\n\nMost GNU/Linux distros ship with better; up-to-date versions of Firefox.\nLibreWolf is built only after Mozilla releases the next build of\nFirefox. Some-distros specifically patch their distro's release to\nimprove performance and have desktop [integrations](https://gitlab.com/librewolf-community/browser/linux/-/issues/232)\nlike KDE Plasma.\n\nMost importantly — you get official support from Mozilla, should\ntop-sites stop working because of [Chromium](https://webcompat.com/)\nincompatibilities. LibreWolf might feel too-harsh for some people when\npopular sites stop-working. You should be using the [Tor Browser](https://www.torproject.org/)\nif your goal is to improve your digital-privacy and combat fingerpriting.\n\n## What's with the name?\n\n``` text\nvulpes — family of foxes; this user.js can be used with any Firefox based browser\n```\n\n## Tweaks 🛠\n\n- Firefox Accounts: disabled\n- Geolocation: disabled\n- Google Safe Browsing: disabled\n- Notifications: disabled\n- Pocket: disabled\n- Telemetry: disabled\n\n---\n# Instructions\n\n1. Click [here](https://codeberg.org/polarhive/vulpes/archive/main.zip) to download the latest ``user.js`` file\n2. Extract the zip file\n3. Copy the ``user.js`` file\n4. Launch Firefox\n5. Type ``about:profiles`` in the address bar and hit enter\n6. Navigate to the Firefox current profile folder by clicking on ``Open Directory``\n7. Paste the ``user.js`` file here\n8. Re-launch Firefox\n9. Search Engine: Google, Bing, Yahoo are not good choices. Pick another search engine\n10. Try [DuckDuckGo](https://duckduckgo.com/), [Whoogle](https://github.com/benbusby/whoogle-search), [Brave Search](https://search.brave.com/), or pick a [Searx](https://searx.me/) instance.\n\n\u003e TIP: Right-click on the address bar to add custom search-engines when visiting the site\n\n## Extensions \u0026 Themes\n\nI use these for a better web-browsing experience. I'd say installing\nuBlock origin is the least one can do these days. Checkout the other\nextensions or install your own. Make sure your extensions aren't\nproprietary, as they are potenial security-risks.\n\n- [uBlock Origin](https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/ublock-origin): ad/content blocker\n- [LocalCDN](https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/localcdn-fork-of-decentraleyes): fetch fonts, JS libraries locally instead of remote CDNs\n- [libredirect](https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/libredirect): helps you use privacy frontends like Nitter, Piped \u0026 Teddit\n- [Dark Reader](https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/darkreader): dark-mode for sites that don't have a dark theme\n- [nicedark-theme](https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/nicedarktheme): what it says on the tin: a 'really nice' dark-theme\n- [materialocean-theme](https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/material-ocean-theme): the colorscheme that I use\n\n\u003e TIP: HTTPS is always on. You don't need to install any extension. Check this [feed](https://github.com/polarhive/vulpes/commits/main.atom) for furthur updates.\n\n---\nThis repo is hosted on [Codeberg](https://polarhive.net/vulpes) \u0026 mirrored to [GitHub](https://polarhive.net/github) for traffic.\n\n[![license: GPLv3 or Later](https://polarhive.net/assets/badges/gpl-3.svg)](https://www.gnu.org/licenses/gpl-3.0.txt)\n\n","project_url":"https://awesome.ecosyste.ms/api/v1/projects/github.com%2Fpolarhive%2Fvulpes","html_url":"https://awesome.ecosyste.ms/projects/github.com%2Fpolarhive%2Fvulpes","lists_url":"https://awesome.ecosyste.ms/api/v1/projects/github.com%2Fpolarhive%2Fvulpes/lists"}
