It has been used in a wide variety of projects, from mapping gentrification in Berlin to building community maps of disaster response in rural Chile.\n\nIt is available to use at [traces.radicaldata.org](https://traces.radicaldata.org).\n\n## Getting started\n\n### Install\n\n1. Clone the repository: `git clone https://github.com/radical-data/traces.git`\n1. Navigate to the project folder: `cd traces`.\n1. Install dependencies: `npm install`.\n\n### Develop\n\nTo develop Traces locally:\n\n1. Start a development server: `npm run dev`.\n1. Traces will be running locally at http://localhost:5173/.\n\n### Build\n\nTo create a production version of Traces:\n\n1. Build it: `npm run build`.\n1. (Optional) You can preview the production build with `npm run preview`.\n\n## Sharing feedback\n\nYour feedback helps us improve Traces! If you have feature requests or find bugs, please [open an issue](https://github.com/radical-data/traces/issues/new).\n\n## Acknowledgements\n\nTraces was inspired by the [brilliant data walking apps](https://datawalking.com/apps.html) from [Data Walking](https://datawalking.com/), a research project developed by [David Hunter](http://davidhunterdesign.com/). These tools – and the research underlying them – sparked our imagination about how mobile phones can support data walks. Traces uses ideas from the interface of the individual tools and aims to bring them together into one app and expand on the possible ways to collect data.\n\nTraces is an outcome of [Radical Data](https://radicaldata.org)'s project Comapping, which focuses on researching and building tools for community mapping.
