This hypothesis is\nimportant because it informs policy decisions — if true, police departments\nwill more effectively improve overall police behavior by identifying and\nremoving \"bad apples\" instead of retraining their entire taskforce.\n\nIf the \"few bad apples\" hypothesis is true, we expect to find that:\n\n1. Police with at least one complaint are likely to have multiple complaints.\n2. An officer's number of past complaints predicts their likelihood of\n   receiving future complaints.\n\nI test the two hypotheses above by examining historical patterns of complaints\nwithin the Chicago Police Department using data provided by the [Invisible\nInstitute][ii].\n\nThe full writeup is available at: https://github.com/SamLau95/chicago-police/blob/master/writeup.pdf .\n\nThe analysis code is available at: https://github.com/SamLau95/chicago-police/blob/master/analysis.ipynb .\n\n[ii]: https://invisible.institute/police-data\n","project_url":"https://awesome.ecosyste.ms/api/v1/projects/github.com%2Fsamlau95%2Fchicago-police","html_url":"https://awesome.ecosyste.ms/projects/github.com%2Fsamlau95%2Fchicago-police","lists_url":"https://awesome.ecosyste.ms/api/v1/projects/github.com%2Fsamlau95%2Fchicago-police/lists"}
